James Newton Howard has been announced as the composer to the upcoming sequel Jack Reacher 2. The movie will be directed by Edward Zwick who has worked with Howard numerous times before, making it quite plausible that he would bring his previous composer collaborator back on board with him. I know there are a lot of Joe Kraemer fans here (I'm not one), but I sure do hope JNH remains with the gig, I would love to hear his score for Jack Reacher 2!    Posted:   Sep 2, 2015 - 6:44 AM     By:   LeHah   (Member) According to IMDb (so not entirely official...) IMDB runs on the same nonsense as Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it, so its untrustworthy. I'll believe it when theres a more trusting source or press release. Further, considering that Tom Cruise is known for sticking to "his people", I'd be surprised if he didn't keep Joe Kraemer on board. If that's who's really doing Reacher 2 I'd go into the theater with some trepidation. I'm sure it'll be expertly crafted, but the character and director seem a mismatch. Cruise and Zwick's team up on Last Samurai was good I thought, but Zwick goes for the melodrama too much I say. And as far as JNH, I'm happy to see his name on anything.    Posted:   Sep 2, 2015 - 8:33 AM     By:   Francis   (Member) I liked the first movie and Joe Kraemer's score was refreshing in that it was an old school action score that was allowed to make a mark. However, I wouldn't exactly call it the second coming of action scores, it did the job. I expect nothing more or less from the score for the sequel, so either composer will probably turn in a good contemporary score. And knowing Hollywood, we might get both to do so lol. Might help his chances. Hey TC has pulled himself out now. It was in the tabloids. Made the sacrifice for his daughter. I mean seriousy, is there a harder working guy in Hollywood? Saw the film a couple of days ago, liked it. Don't remember anything of the score. The Kraemer score was at least catchy and memorable from the moment I heard it.
