I can't answer the question about where the samples come from, but I'm sure glad you posted the song - wasn't aware of it enjoyed it a lot. Thanks.

I have listened to that song, indeed that entire New Order album probably hundreds of times.
New Order is one of my favs. But I never thought of those samples as riffed from a score.

Sean and Ado,
The "samples" appear at 1:52 and 2:54 and they are the "trumpet's" from the main title theme of
"The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly"......you've got to listen carefully as they are almost buried in the mix..........in fact the whole track has a Morriconian ambience to it.
New Order are huge Italian Western fans.
