In 1979 Star Wars and Superman on LP were my introduction to film scores. We had a Technics Turntable.

The time has come to buy a new record player and I'm curious about people's setups and recommendations.

USB makes no difference to me. I need one to listen to the sound of Vinyl.

Same as back then: Technics (they're back!). I still have a Technics Stereo System from 1997 which I use for most of my home listening (of course, over time I retired the cassette tape deck and updated with a Blu Ray player). Years ago, I had a Technics turntable as well (I eventually sold it when I moved). I don't have a current Technics turntable model to recommend it first hand, but I'd definitely check them out.

I bought a Denon DP 297 a couple of years ago. Good one, not too expensive either.

Turntable: Audio-Technica AT PL120. It even plays 78s! (Although you have to get a different stylus ).

Turntable: Garrard 301; SME 309 Arm - sounds fabulous and I love its 50s styling.

I loved our old Technics. Wife's got an old Panasonic Tube Amp and the sound out of it with vinyl can't be beat
