Anyone have them? If so please describe them and share your thoughts on them if you will.

I heard one of them at a friend's house once and there was a part or parts of one of them that sounded just like a part of the KARATE KID Main Title when they were doing the cross country traveling to get to L.A.

I have, I believe, both of them somewhere, but truthfully can't recall much about them aside from the fact that one of them reused his Huck Finn theme from around the same time.

I love symphonic Conti, which these are, but I recall a rather generic and phoned-in 90's Americana sound to them, with predictable chord progressions and obvious contrapuntal ideas. "Rachel Portman Syndrome", I call it.

North & South, Slow Dancing in the Big City, F.I.S.T. etc. these are not.

I agree that Yellowstone reuses a lot of Conti's Huck Finn theme and that's probably why I don't revisit it much. Huck Finn is a much better score. The sound quality on Grand Canyon is horrible. It's not a bad score and I probably would have liked it a lot better if not for the muffled, horrible overall mix on it. Not the best Conti scores. It's a shame because I'm a fan of Conti in full symphonic mode as well.

CD.............sound quality to BOTH ................is AWFUL..............it's as though someone has their hand over the microphone ....and keeps it there all the way through the recording process...............Result : A total waste of time.......

Yes, I have both CD's but hardly ever play them cos they do sound terrible, recording-wise.
Dull, muffled...I remember one sounded worse than the other.
The music is okay, but as bobb says, not as good as some of his richer film work.
Aren't the Ambrosian Choir credited on one of them?

I actually rather like both scores. The sound on YELLOWSTONE isn't horrible, but GRAND CANYON is unlistenable.

Just dug Yellowstone CD out and took it for a spin.
Now, sometimes it's just a case of right place right time, but it was a wonderful 30 minutes that me and Bill spent together.
It must be Grand Canyon that has terrible sound issues, cos this one didn't seem as bad as I remembered either.
Yes, there are snippets of other Conti scores (mentioned above) but that's just trademark styles at times.
After 5 or 6 previous failed dates with this one, I'm happy to report we finally hit it off smile

YELLOWSTONE has a permanent playlist in my iTunes library, but because the sound quality was so horrible, GRAND CANYON doesn't share that honor. I think I'll give YELLOWSTONE a spin!

Well I think that the music for GRAND CANYON : The Hidden Secrets is just about the best thing Mr Conti has ever done! The film itself is pretty good too, and it's clear he was inspired by the images (who wouldn't be??!)

Was fortunate to catch the film when it was shown at the IMAX cinema in Glasgow several years ago. Subsequently purchased the DVD which is a decent souvenir of the thing. It's a pity about the sound on the CD, but I'm grateful that it's available at all.
