Douglas Pipes made a bit of a splash nearly a decade ago(!) with Monster House and Trick 'r Treat, but hasn't been around much since. But this Christmas he's returning to score Krampus. I didn't love his previous released score as much as some, but I'm always happy to hear interesting genre variations on warm Christmas tunes (Shaw's "Carol of Death" has always been fun) so I'm very curious to hear what he comes up with. Hopefully his score gets released and is a fun addition to the canon.
Hopefully we'll see even more film music coming from Douglas Pipes's pen in the future. He's obviously very talented, and I think his scores for Monster House and Trick 'r Treat are excellent. Krampus looks promising. Fingers crossed for a CD release. La-La Land, perhaps?

Thanks for the update, MV! This'll be an instant purchase for me. Monster House and Trick 'r Treat are right up my alley, and I'm sure this is as well.
Have not bought much in the past 1 1/2 months, too many expanded re-re-releases. This one will be ordered ASAP! Douglas Pipes has always been a favorite and needs more movies to score!
There's another excellent 'horror' Carol Of The Bells re-working for the recent film A CHRISTMAS HORROR STORY which sounds great. Wish this score was getting a release. Really looking forward to KRAMPUS though.
Samples are on iTunes and sound great, a fair bit of ambient (orchestral) horror stuff but lots of more bombastic melodic doomy music and playful Christmas material as well. Sounds like a well balanced mix of those three elements, can't wait for it to be available tomorrow. I hope the film's good, the trailer looks just ok.
So much of the music has already been ingrained in my mind since last night. I can't wait for the CD! I can't wait to drive through the snow while playing the end credits music. ...Not that I should be hoping for snow. I love winter, but not when I'm working as a delivery driver.
