SPOILERS KIDDIES!

We all know when a Studio gives a film and new release date...that means a mega bomb is coming...Jupiter Decending, comes to mind. But hang onto your Wigs and Keys...Pan is about to land into our movie houses and lay a big ol rotten egg. IT rips off so many films...Every Studio should sue this new turkey call Pan. You all thought Steven Spielberg's Hook was over blown, over directed, over produced, well hell..this new Pan makes Spielberg's Hook look damn good. LOL.

This is an over everything. No sense of wonderment, or awe and inspiring effort. You come away feeling that everyone in Pan is CREEPY. Who approved this mess?

And to top this all off...John Powell Music sounds like John Williams Greatest Hits! Stealing a quote from a critic. It is Over blown..It truly hurt my ears! It is too loud and too pompous.

And you thought The Bored of Rings cameras never stopped moving...Pan's Two Cinematographers cannot stop moving the cameras. Endless...movement...You will want to get off this ride from the start! lol.

Hope springing eternal, the studio has already commissioned scripts for not one but two sequels to this. I kid you not.

That's pretty good. I think Josh Trank's FANTASTIC 4 only has one sequel greenlit.

In other words:

"Directed by Joe Wright"

I've loved everything of Wright's that I have seen (Anna Karenina, Hanna, Atonement, Pride & Prejudice), and I tend to actually enjoy movies that many people think are garish, OTT messes, so I'm still looking forward to thissmile

If this movie offers up Rooney Mara in as miscast and garish a presentation as she gave in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (American version), I might fall in love with her even more.

No one fans the flames of my inner desire like a sexy girl from a wealthy family who's doin' Hollywood. Nothin' like sultry, snotty entitlement for this guy!

Sorry James,

I'll be watching this via Netflix. It looks a mess.

No he's not. I know because Alonso is actually a friend of mine.

Sounds like I'm gonna love the score! Though the film looks cringe worthy.

Well, apparently, not one, but two sequels were planned for JOHN CARTER as well. And we all know where that ended up....

I would encourage any lovers of Peter Pan to pass on this latest one and watch the terrific PJ Hogan version from 2003. It is truly fantastic and gorgeous on Blu-Ray, has some pretty good actors, good set work, charming effects, it is light in spirit and has a lovely little love story. It is a really underrated movie.

Oh absolutely. I've been wrong before, but I would be shocked if "Pan" did anywhere near the business it would need to justify a sequel. I only mentioned it because it shows how much of a machine the studios have become as far as these blockbusters go -- they have to be prepared the green-light a sequel the moment the opening grosses come in.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (American version) had an 86% positive critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with much very positive comment about Rooney Mara's "total role commitment" in the starring role. Your POV is interesting, but doesn't have much support (though of course you have every right to it). I thought she was terrific, and was not surprised to see that the critics agreed.

I hate topics like this...where people get their knives out before having seen the film, actually wanting/wishing a movie to fail. I don't get that. I'll make up my own mind, thank you very much. And that means giving the movie a fair go. I'm sure I'll like the score, samples sound marvelous.

Totally agree. The 2003 version was definitive for me, rendering moot all others (particularly those offering us grown women masquerading as adolescent boys). As much as I had a mental image of Pan, Jeremy Sumpter was about as close as you could get, and struck just the right note of innocence and determined cunning. An underappreciated performance and a very underrated film.
