"The Next Karate Kid" is a good movie, with a lot of heart. Avoiding "beats" played on the Daniel "trilogy", adding very cool new ones, and keeping a few others that keep it a "Karate Kid" movie. There are a few bits where I think they went wrong, but what movie doesn't have them? I would have to see it again just to comment about the soundtrack but I don't remember it being "wrong" or bad. So it was at least just as good as the movie. I think sometimes people expect a movie to be "the second coming", and since they're taught to compare, and therefore make it a competition, they think: "I didn't like it as much as that other movie, so it is a bad movie, or a blah movie". You can't really rate what moves you. You don't have to choose "a" or "b" or make a list, set goals, and be mean. Lovely movie, surprisingly good (after what I think it is executive interference in "The Karate Kid -part III", which is a fine movie for the most of it, in my opinion). It didn't go where I thought it was supposed to go, it did go other places, and that's good too.

Did this score ever get a separate release? I managed to pick up the first three some time ago, but not this one. Yeah, it would be nice to see an individual release of this score, although I suspect Varese will keep this one exclusive to the box set.
