A few weeks ago, I went over to one of the local Wendy's and, while sitting in my car, connected to their wifi. I hit "connect" before disabling the "connect automatically" function, and now whenever I go over there, it connects before I'm READY to connect. There is no obvious way to stop this from happening... do any of you have an idea how I can prevent this from happening anymore... and no... I'm NOT going to stop going to Wendy's!

Jim, this has happened to me many, many times. Once my laptop connects with ANY outside Wi-Fi source, my laptop stores that source into its memory, so that I never have to re-connect again. I think your laptop is simply doing what it was designed to do.

I'm not sure what OS you're using, but on Windows 7 Professional, under 'Control Panel' -> 'Network and Internet', there's an option in the left hand list for 'Manage Wireless Networks'. I believe that any network that you've set up either intentionally or otherwise, should be there, and it should be possible to remove it if you want with a right click option. Yes, this. Right click on your wifi icon and it should be one of only 2 or 3 options
