To channel that, Holkenborg crafted a score built with vintage drum machines, modular synths alongside live drums and bass. As he puts it: it’s Miami Vice meets Mad Max. Today you can hear that mixture in action on the new track ‘Maximum Effort’. I truly couldn't agree more. I enjoy Holkenborg's compositions but that sample completely turned me off of any interest towards the score. Sounds like completely soulless electronic garbage. The same type of score that Henry Jackman applied to G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Even Holkenborg's score to Point Break sounded like someone was a little more focused and trying to create a sense of heartfelt emotion.. The track lost its lustre as it went on.
