Off the cuff, I'm going to say Land of the Giants Year 2 (John Williams) and Seven Days (Scott Gilman). Those two are never getting old. Driving, thunderous orchestral power!

Your mileage may vary.

Fair enough. As mentioned on the Barry Gray thread, my pulse always quickened to Stingray, and still does.

Land of the Giants (2) absolutely. Then The Virginian (Faith). There were so many good ones back then. Now...well, there were so many good ones back then...

Love Ron Grainer's theme to "The Prisoner".

From this century, I like Sean Callery's short but pulse-quickening opening music to "Elementary"....

The Persuaders ! (John Barry)

The Persuaders theme is like visiting a haunted house whose ghost was a jazz musician.

There are a number of great ones for failed series. A few examples are Caribe with Stacy Keach and The Quest with Kurt Russell and City of Angels with Wayne Rogers. Also Quinn Martin's shows had some pretty propulsive themes.

Airwolf, including the various remixes and extended versions on Youtube.

I could listen to a 10-hour version of this and not get bored... it's got a great beat !!

and...

Hawaii Five-O (mainly because of the drums, it wouldn't be the same without them).

Just found this version... wonderful stuff !!

They sure wrote great music for TV shows back in the 60s and 70s.

My favourite is The Persuaders, followed by Thunderbirds and The Avengers.

A couple of Japanese crime dramas are worth mentioning. Keyhunter (Late 60s to 70s) offers a cool theme. Very 60s feel. G-men 75's soundtrack is probably the best known Japanese TV music from the 70s. Great theme too.

Some good TV music from America too. Decent but not great.
Some of the ones I like:

Batman
Hawaii Five-O
Mission Impossible
Police Woman
Rockford Files
S.W.A.T.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Jerry Goldsmith's "Barnaby Jones," especially considering the show was about an old fart detective.

Zap, I've not heard of Seven Days. Is this the theme which I do like? I heard longer variations in other videos.

My favorites were Conti's Cagney and Lacey and Morricone's The Men From Shiloh.

+1

Also, the Peter Gunn theme, especially the ones done by Art of Noise! wink

"Miami Vice" -- how could I forget about that.

"Seven Days" shook up the theme a few times, including extending it a little and some changes in the last season. My favorite version is this one:
