Some of you here knew Lois.
She was Jerry Goldsmith's personal assistant for many years, and she was my close friend. For the last four years, we spoke on the phone together every night.
November 16 would have been her 82nd birthday.
I'm going to miss her very much.

Deeply sorry for your loss. She's another mythic name in my own pantheon. I guess she was smart, funny and full of stories.

I'm sorry for your loss. She must have been very valuable to Jerry. R.I.P. Lois Carruth.

Oh no! The "Dragon at the Gate" -- the running joke. We adored her. So sorry to hear. Thank you for informing us.

A wonderful lady, and the exemplar of a composer's personal assistant, who no doubt allowed Jerry's creativity to flow. RIP

Very sorry for your loss, Chris.

Hers is a name I've seen several times over the years, but I didn't really know anything about her other than that she was Goldsmith's assistant.

Her family was involved in movies and television, Len Carruth (husband?) was a music editor and another whose name escapes me was in costume/wardrobe.

Yes this is very sad, Lois was a lovely lady and a close friend who will be sadly missed.
I had not spoken to her for a while and this is a great shock.

"Oh no! The "Dragon at the Gate" -- the running joke. We adored her."

Lukas, I have you to thank for the privilege of having known Lois.
We met HERE at your message board.
She was a "lurker" here for years while working for Jerry. She monitored the activities at several film score related websites, with, naturally, a focused interest in anything that related to her employer.
Out of the blue, she emailed me! That was in 1997.
Our relationship began with regular emails, and we exchanged gifts via postal service.
Our first telephone conversation happened on November 16, 2009, when I called her to sing "Happy Birthday!" She had told me that a friend was taking her out for a birthday lunch that day, and so I expected to sing on her voicemail. When she answered the phone, I nearly WET MY PANTS!
We talked for over three hours on that day.
For the next two years, we phoned each other about once a week. In 2011, as her health began to decline, we had a daily "Phone Date" at 6 PM (West Coast Time). The shortest conversations clocked in at about 90 minutes. Often we talked for over three hours.

Thank you, Lukas!

Had it not been for you, I never would have known this Amazing Lady!

Miss you even if I did not know you Lois.
On all those credits for so many years, a somewhat unsung hero and humble soul.

Bless you and the family.

What did she do as his assistant, exactly?
