Music by Michael Kamen
Limited Edition of 3000 Units
RETAIL PRICE: $19.98

a-La Land Records and Warner Bros. present the world premiere release of renowned composer Michael Kamen’s (BRAZIL, LETHAL WEAPON, DIE HARD, THE IRON GIANT) original motion picture score to the 1991 Warner Bros. action/thriller THE LAST BOY SCOUT, starring Bruce Willis, Damon Wayans and Danielle Harris and directed by Tony Scott. Noir-ish suspense, black comedy, violent action – Kamen’s score handles it all with aplomb, even as it cuts against the action/blockbuster grain with its soulful and understated motifs. Produced by Neil S. Bulk and mastered by Stephen Marsh, this limited edition release of 3000 units also contains Bonus Tracks, as well as the rousing faux-primetime-network-football anthem featured in the film, “Friday Night’s a Great Night for Football,” performed by Bill Medley. Renowned composer/conductor/arranger Carmen Dragon creates an astoundingly complex and groundbreaking work, (his inventive use of low, staccato piano notes for suspense would inspire many composers to do the same) that perfectly emboldens the film’s sci-fi terror and paranoia, while never neglecting the story’s human emotions or its psychological and sociological underpinnings. Produced for La-La Land Records by Carmen Dragon’s son-in-law, Richard “Rick” Henn and Neil S. Bulk, and restored and mastered by Stephen Marsh and Fernando Lee, this limited edition release of 2000 Units includes source music bonus tracks and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by film music Jeff Bond, with a special note from album co-producer Henn. Okay, I think I recognize those images in the stone for the McCuistion release:

Top left: Little Caesars guy
Bottom left: one-eyed bearded cyclops
Top right: the LLLR's monkey
Middle right: some chick to the side
Bottom right: a dog wearing headphones

Double plus good. Ordered a couple older titles along with LiS - everything else seems dirt cheap when you order a big boxset.

Playing the "Gourmet/Goldbrick" sample, it suddenly reminds me of "The Cave" in Goldsmith's POTA.

I've just purchased the Lost In Space CD box-set and I feel as guilty as hell for spending so much money on myself, especially as it was not that long ago I purchased the Mission Impossible box-set but I know I'll get over it because the regret of not making the purchase would have been even worse for me.

cant tell if this is a win-win, or lose-lose for you. As someone else has mentioned, the per disc price is very inexpensive compared to buying 12 separate cd releases. So you're actually being pretty frugal getting the box.

Purchased my Lost In Space box set two minutes after the LLL site went live at 3:05 PM Eastern Time LOL

Can't wait 'till it arrives in a week (ships this Friday).

Listening to the samples on the site, did anyone else notice the sample cues from Reluctant Stowaway seemed to fade in and out slightly in volume? Hope that's just in the sample mp3's and not on the actual cd since this particular Williams score was pulled from the film stem and not the original music masters.

Otherwise all of the sample cues sound really good.

I just ordered it. You're going to be okay. The only things that sell out in one day are Kritzerland releases where it's one disc, no prior release, and 1200 units.

I think the main discussion is going to be in the original thread:

Same here. It was William's bouncy Chariot travel music. Really stuck in my 5 year old head!

No, it was around for preorder for a week or two (selling out well before shipping). It's just that it sold out really suddenly with hardly a low-quantity warning. People assumed that it wasn't selling all that fast because of the price tag and the POOF it was gone. I will probably forever regret missing out on a copy, and if it had hung around another couple of weeks it would have been mine!

Nothing sells out over night anymore, much less something with a $150 price tag on it. I hope it's a huge success for LLL, but I expect the set will be available for some time to come.

You can fill the deep deep gap between BERNARD HERRMANN and LOST IN SPACE with complete solar systems ! Sorry to say this ! Well, if Bernard Hermann to be the composer of all LIS-scores or of the majority of episode scores ..., but so ...
How much was the shocking final sales-price of the old LLL-LIS-2-CD-Set ? $2.98 or $1.98 !?!?
After this "end" of this excellent(at the time of 2005) 2-CD-Set, I had no hope on more music from this series.
I am not a big fan of the series, but from the scores; so I will take this dream of a soundtrack-release of course in my collection.

16 Footprint / Microscope / Father and Son / Robot 2:19
I'm hoping 'Footprint' is the Commercial break, terror stinger play off as John and Don unsuspectingly drive the Chariot over the huge Footprint left by the Giant. This is one of my Favourite cues from the series and sums up the whole spirit of the shows first season.
