It sounds like a kid on a Casio playing with the marimba sample.

Other parts sound like they flew in music composed for a Hallmark or Lifetime made-for-TV movie.

I seriously cannot think of a semi-major film with music this bad.

I imagine Quentin Tarantino seeing the rough cut and banging his head on Christian Slater's leopard dashboard.

Yeah, the score is pretty cheeseball (a certain quote by Lee Donowitz comes to mind: "I've got more taste in my...").

Great movie, though.

Or I imagine Tarantino (and Tony Scott for that matter) being extremely happy that Zimmer's score is a loving tribute to Carl Orff's Kindermusik, which was the score for Terrence Malick's Badlands - a great film about an outlaw couple on the run that was certainly one of the inspirations for True Romance.

I like True Romance, film and score. But you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

And Matt B for the win!

Sorry, it was Orff's Musica Poetica...

If they have to retroactively credit Randy Edelman with bits of Broken Arrow, they should definitely retroactively credit Orff (or Keetman, or whoever really wrote it) for this.

Come on, guys. This sounds like something you'd hear at a beachside snow-cone stand manned by some white dude wearing a dreadlock wig and Hawaiian shirt.

It gets worse. Did you know the music was all based on a Carl Orff piece?

Did you know Carl Orff was a Nazi?

This movie is like a Valentine Card from your girlfriend. If the poem inside has been written by Hitler!

I loved it in badlands and loved it in true romance.

Yes, I think the score is fabulous -- both the Orff arrangement and the other pieces in the film.

"True Romance Has the Worst Original Score Ever"

Am I to assume then you've never heard Tyler Bates' score to Rob Zombie's Halloween remake?

The Theme has been used in various trailers and TV shows. I imagine Hans is crying all the way to the bank (and deservedly so - it's a lovely piece of music!)

I actually thought it was very effective in the film. It presented a nice juxtaposition to the violence in the story

I loved it in badlands and loved it in true romance.

I am not a Zimmer fan, but I love the score too.

Wow, a troll!

Well, I wouldn't except a guy who only listens to film music from the 50s -70s to understand the score from True Romance.

The track Amid The Chaos Of The Day is among Zimmer's best ones ever:

But I agree that the You're So Cool theme is not a highlight in Zimmer's career.

I don't know about the rest of the score but I love that theme. Very charming.
