Screened couple wednesdays ago,, Great docu on the history of Gerry, AP films, islet park, twizzle, torchy, Four feather falls, (puppet western, probably one of the influences behind Woodys roundup in Toy Story), the first warehouse in ipswich road, slough (now a tyre fitting garage), supercar, fireball xL5, stingray, thunderbirds, captain scarlet, joe 90 etc, even Secret agent with stanley Unwin!. lots of talking heads, gerry, sylvia, nicholas parsons, some of the orginal puppeteer team, special effects guys, old clips of derek meddings etc.
Also included - and i didnt realise this - they covered the meteoric rise of the AP productions and success after success, lew Grade, etc, but then they explained the ambitious move to the big screen with Thunderbirds are go! And its box office disaster and the knock on effect to the company of its failure and Lew Grade getting cold feet and stopping thunderbirds. Because the american market didnt want it and insisting on a new show, which became captain scarlet.
Nearly all of the key players felt they peaked with Thunderbirds and all felt they could have gone on making them for the Uk market and waited for the worlds interest to catch up.
And a short sequence covering Barry Gray with footage, and all the music through the various series.
Most informative and highly recommended for any fans of Anderson stuff. Quite poignant at times.
Undoubtedly be shown again. Anyone else see it?

Instead of a film about "Psycho" and what not, they should turn this into a film.
"From Twizzle to Space 1999", I'd go watch it.

weirdly, they mentioned doppelganger (Far side of the sun) and Gerry off to an office at pinewood keen on his live action at last while the rest of the team stayed in slough and made secret agent. They covered the closure of the company and the destruction of the sets etc and it stopped there, not really covering UFO and no mention of Space 1999.
Did they reform by popular demand or was it a different team by space 1999?
