Christopher Young should! He's worked for the director, Scott Derrickson, twice before.

He's got two Marvel movies (non-Disney) under his belt; Spider-Man 3 and Ghost Rider.

But his outstanding work on Priest (another comic book project) makes him the right man for the job.

I was actually going to suggest Chris Young as well before I saw this post razz
But seriously, he would be perfect!! He proved with Spider-Man 3 and Priest that he can ride the fine line between horror, heroism, and the supernatural

Agreed. I would LOVE to see him do this. He's got the range and the horror cred with Hellraiser.

He deserves to have his scoring profile elevated with a Marvel film.

I can't comment on whether Christopher Young would be right to score this film as I am not familiar with his work. However, lately I've been wondering what it would be like if Trevor Jones scored a Marvel film.

I think he'd be a great left-of-field choice, he has the chops for it. However, like the above posts my first thought was Christopher Young.

Wow, that's funny...I was also thinking that it should be scored by Christopher Young before I visited the thread...

No matter who scores it, you know EXACTLY what it's going to sound like. frown

Stay positive! Perhaps Ant Man was an eyeopener for Marvel.

Because Guardians of the Galaxy sounds like Iron Man 2 sounds like Ant-Man sounds like Thor sounds like The Incredible Hulk.

But anyway, didn't Young start talking about this well over a year ago? From June 2014:

"Am I gong to do Doctor Strange? Oh, I better had. All I know is, I spoke to [Scott Derrickson] and did a little pitch on the phone and he kind of laughed. He didn't say, 'and by the way, you don't need to, you're going to do it,' but even on [Deliver Us From Evil] I had to make him a little pitch to him on the phone. He sent me the script, and he wanted to see my take on it. I mean, I'm hoping. He walked away from [Deliver Us From Evil] beaming... Anyway, we'll see. Thank you for asking, I swear to God, If he doesn't hire me I'm going to strangle him."

Contrary to popular opinion, I'd much rather listen to Ghost Rider or Spider-Man 3 than to Priest.

I know, I can't tell Thor and Thor 2 apart. And they both sound just like Captain America 1 AND 2. razz

I hope they stay away from the usual run-of-the-mill drone factory sound. Give me something that has more character and backbone. But alas, gone are the days. I don't know how much the musician fees cost but I won't be surprised if they cost an arm and a leg. I want to hear a huge orchestral sound and I am not talking about swashbuckling. If they have to incorporate electronics into the score, I hope they make it in such a way that it is a natural part of the orchestra. I don't want to hear gratuitious, in-your-face electronic sounds that rise above the non-orchestral ones. I hope the studio allocates mucho $$$$ for the film score costs..........

If Chris Young came out with both barrels with a score like Bless The Child, it would be AMAZING.

Other than that, the usual suspects: Broughton, McNeely, Arnold, etc

I agree 100% Long, Dark, brooding passages played on lower registers, whether it be strings, brass whatever. Mr. Shore is a master at this.

Chris Young in Bless the Child mode is very exciting! A choir like that? Terrific!

Please, please something from the Maestro John Williams. Can't wait for his music for Star Wars this December. I am trembling and weak at the knees from just thinking about this.

Bruce Broughton? A great composer who is seriously very much underused, I do not know why.....But I would welcome any Broughton score anyday!

Someone from RCP will most likely do it frown

> I talked to Chris yesterday and unfortunately he won't do it. Obviously
> the producer want Hans Zimmer to score it, which I really doubt they will
> get Zimmer on this. So probably they will hire someone from RCP, maybe
> Ramin Djawadi or Henry Jackman.

Chris Young would have been the absolute perfect choice for this film. I am very surprised the director did not insist on this. Having worked with Chris on several of his previous films he would surely understand and appreciate Chris's great talent and would have foreseen the great musical contribution he could have made to the "Dr.Strange " film. Its strange .

Its really a great shame and a missed opportunity. Chris Young is a mega-talent.

I still can't quite get my head around the fact that Arnold seems to mostly be twiddling his thumbs in between TV jobs and concerts in the UK, when he should be getting snapped up by Marvel and DC to score their films. Just seems weird.
