He'll be Zimmerized. Trust me.

Bah! I'm a fan of his earlier music, but this has Christopher Young written all over it.

Remember the 1970s TV movie where Dr. Strange had a Marjoe Gortner White Dude Afro and fought evil sorceress Jessica Walter? It had a funky early synth score by Paul Chihara of PRINCE OF THE CITY fame...

I don't know. Christophe Beck got away with a very non-Zimmer score for Ant-Man. I'm hoping for the best.

Yes, hiring Giacchino most likely means they don't want Zimmer's wall of sound approach, probably well get some of his "The Incredibles" style.

more likely similar to jupiter ascending.it was a bit more modern but also typical giacchino and very mysterious at times.now i wonder who will score spider-man homecoming, since i was sure he would do it.(btw its almost confirmed that fantastic four is back with marvel, no official announcement yet but soon.not sure if its a deal similar to spider-man or if they have the full rights.either way, its time for an appropiate appereance of the guy that i named myself after.)

MICHAEL GIACCHINO !

That's frikkin' great news. With Ant-Man, Jessica Jones and now this, it seems like the music for the MCU is finally getting to adulthood. Let's hope Civil War was the end of it's puberty*.

* With the infancy of course being the first Iron Man.

Meh. I'm glad it wasn't Tyler Bates etc, because I don't want Zimmer's "minions" to take over everything, especially not over composers I like MUCH more (Christopher Young in this case). Still, I am not a big fan of Giacchino at all (I like some of his music though), but I see no reason why he would be a better pick than Christopher Young.

Woo! That's great news. The man can write some music. I'll be looking forward to what melodies he brings to the Sorceror Supreme. Hopefully a theme a strong as The Avengers and Ant-Man.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I've enjoyed most of the Marvel scores. But Ant-Man is the only score that really came close to the (for me) high water marks of Thor and Captain America: First Avenger.

But I'm glad Giacchino got the gig.

I think Giacchino has written some wonderful scores but I was hoping that a possibly "way out" film like Dr Strange would get an equally "way out" composer.... like say Clint Mansell, Christopher Young, maybe Elliot Goldenthal.

This says to me that the film itself will probably fall in line with the other Marvel films as being safe, wholesome family entertainment. Oh well, at least I have Daredevil.

Wow - now that gets my attention! MG for FF!! Now THAT is a fit, for so many obvious reasons!

Very upset that Young did not get the score. Feige's powers must be incremental

Giacchino is great if he does his John Carter or Jupiter Ascending roles. Not the Dan Wallin 'i sound like paper' works. Seriously.

I love the score to Jupiter Ascending and Cloverfield. I dislike the rest of his music when Dan Wallin makes a 100-piece orchestra sound like a 20-´piece band. It is time, DAN. Retire.

From the looks of IMDB, he did. His last credit was Star Trek Into Darkness.

Hey, that was a great joke, there - of, you're not kidding.

Seriously, just about something endlessly grim and shot in the dark doesn't serious at its core.

Yeah, Wallin retired after Star Trek 2. His plase took Joel Iwataki.
