UPDATE: THE FILM IS SET FOR I-MAX RELEASE THIS OCTOBER:

It didn’t show up in the Cannes line-up as some predicted, but we won’t have to wait too long for Terrence Malick’s long-gestating Voyage of Time. The Ennio Morricone-scored project — which is technically two films, one a more educational 40-minute IMAX version narrated by Brad Pitt and the other a feature-length cut narrated by Cate Blanchett — is described as “a celebration of the earth – from the birth of the universe to its final collapse.”

Finally, we have our first official confirmation on when it will arrive. Buried deep in an IMAX press release (http://www.imax.com/content/imax-corporation-reports-first-quarter-2016-financial-results-highlights) about its first quarter 2016 earnings, they reveal that an October 7th, 2016 release is set for the IMAX version, which now makes a TIFF and/or Venice premiere likely. With only IMAX reporting now, there isn’t an update regarding the feature-length version, but hopefully it finds distribution around the same time.

VOYAGE OF TIME is a celebration of the earth, displaying the whole of time, from the birth of the universe to its final collapse. This film examines all that went to prepare the miracle that stands before us now. Science and spirit, birth and death, the grand cosmos and the minute life systems of our planet – all come together in Malick’s most ambitious film to date.

So has the score actually been recorded? If yes, when and where?

I don´t think that Morricone has written or will write music for this film, but of course I really hope he will. According to the fanzine Maestro there have been no signs of a Morricone score.

Can someone here read the credits? Is Ennio Morricone's name on the poster or not? I can't see, it is too small.

I don't see Morricone's name anywhere on that poster. Over at IMDb Hanan Townshend is credited for additional music, which was not originally on the IMDb page. That doesn't look good.

I don't see any music credit, to my eye. And I saved it, increased the size and even inverted the colors to get a better look.

Probably mostly classical stuff, then. Was hoping for a Morricone score but clearly it didn't seem likely as the months have gone on and there wasn't any news about it.

As with the poster, there is no music credit at the end. This doesn't necessarily mean that Ennio Morricone is no longer involved, but it's hard to imagine why the legend and recent Oscar winner wouldn't be prominently highlighted in the publicity material.

I recently rewatched The Tree Of Life and will be thoroughly delighted if he recaptures its sense of spiritual consciousness with this new one. Would seem to be a promising bet.

I don´t think Morricone wrote the music for this, but apparently some people still think he did.

So there are 2 versions. The 40 minute doc in Imax theatres only with Pitt narration and the more poetic Blanchett narrated 90 minute one. Methinks Ennio would more likely be involved with the latter and maybe not the former at all.

I hope you're right, Henry.
But my hope is now reduced, comparing to the past year.
To not see his name in the production or in the poster isn't encouraging.
Nevertheless, I do hope that he (has) will find the time to do it between concerts and Tornatore's project(s), since it is really a topic for him (see The Bible : At the Begining, Mission to Mars, etc.).

We might be out of luck. Found this at another score board I post at, just now:

Lastly, although it was reported that Ennio Morricone would be re-teaming with Malick to score the project, his name isn’t found in any credits at this stage. Instead, it looks as if the director worked with sound designer Joel Dougherty to “weave natural and speculative sounds into the film’s universe” and music supervisor Lauren Mikus to “choose a variety of instrumental pieces that evoke the swirling, swelling, creative energy of life at both ends of the magnitude scale."

https://thefilmstage.com/news/the-making-of-terrence-malicks-ambitious-documentary-voyage-of-time/

The user also said:
"There're also other reports on message boards saying Morricone's name has been taken off credits lists from producing company Wild Bunch."

But I dont' recall anything official on Morricone scoring that.

The trailer for "The Voyage of Time: Life's Journey":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxCPWuCV834

No music credit, but if Ennio Morricone is still involved in this project to any capacity it's probably for this version of the film.

If not, there is still hope - I suppose - that Morricone is still on board to score (or "supervise music" for, was that what that odd report said he'd be doing?) "Weightless."

Looks like Simon Franglen has written some music for the film:

As with all Malick films I guess we'll just have to wait for the film to see who and where all the music has come from.
