The consolation that I'm no worse off than I was previously pales before the fact that I'm palpably worse off than all residents of the US.
I get that.
Here's the thing: I don't claim to have any insight into the licensing and legality issues of these region limitations. But given how much the studios depend on international sales for their very existence these days, I am confident that they are not keeping this from you out of ignorance or meanness.
Screen Archives added to their rare/OOP section several copies of a promotional CD-R a number of weeks ago. I was lucky to be able to get one of these copies, but the listing was removed shortly after. There were seven copies in the cart after I bought mine and I think someone else bought the rest of them (they were priced at $10 apiece).
