Is it just me or are their releases pretty boring? I can't remember the last time I was excited for their releases. Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the Krull re-release were cool, but they haven't seemed to be doing anything substantial. Just a lot of tv shows and batman animated series... Intrada wasn't necessarily better either - they only recently struck it out of the park with Jaws and BTTF - maybe it's just that all the good releases have already come out and the rest are just much more complicated and slower to secure?

Good, that's less money spent! The only holy grail left for me is Child's Play 2. I'm pretty satisfied otherwise.

I don't really pay attention to newer releases so I wouldn't know but I imagine most of the soundtracks are available elsewhere like Zombie Apocalypse and Da Vinci's Demons? I guess I'm still in the 1990's mindset of missing soundtracks to really big movies by headliner composers that I'm still waiting for some of those bigger, older soundtracks... and therefore less likely to care about newer ones. Those ones were so hard-won - like Home Alone, Back to the Future, Independence Day, The Edge... I don't feel like new releases need this attention. Like 3:10 To Yuma? That already had an album release. But I also haven't been tracking newer composers - no idea who Bear McCreary is, I might partly know who John Frizzell is - overall I just feel like there is so much more that is missing from the big, older composers like Silvestri, Williams, Goldsmith, Horner, etc. and I want to see those before they disappear.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the Krull re-release were cool, but they haven't seemed to be doing anything substantial. Just a lot of tv shows and batman animated series... I think that's a little harsh. Personally, I like their DCAU albums. And their big TV show releases from this year (Planet of the Apes, Mission: Impossible, and Lost In Space) all seemed very well-received. I own all three, myself, and love them. Yes, they haven't released as many sought-after older film scores this year (although A.I. was a pretty big deal), but given all the work that went into those box sets I can accept that. The year isn't over yet, anyway; I'm really looking forward to seeing what they've got for us on Black Friday. As far as the scores to newer movies go, I have to admit I don't own as many of those as their other releases. Off the top of my head, I've got Kick-Ass 2, Transformers: Extinction, and Predators... as well as Superman Returns and X2 (if those last two are new enough to count as "newer"). Anyway, count me in for Airplane 2 this month. Might not be a holy grail, but it's a fun little movie.

Yeah, I'm watching Airplane II for the first time just to see if it's any good - it is! I've never been a fan of the DC / Marvel / Superhero stuff but I know a lot of people are and that's fine. You're right about the TV releases too - I guess I have a hard time buying the expensive sets, but Lost In Space and Mission Impossible are pretty iconic (haven't watched much of them so I don't have a connection to the music). I considered buying Mission Impossible just for its historical importance but the price is deterring me. LLL has had tons of great releases - I'm always grateful for what they do, even if I'm not necessarily interested in buying what is available at the moment.
