I'm afraid I find this score to be Giacchino's weakest effort. Sounds like he wasn't very inspired by the movie.

There's some nice textures here and there, but no strong themes to tie anything together. One of the themes that is there is a very close cousin to Locke's theme from Lost.

I wouldn't call this weaker than Land of the Lost. It's definitely not great, though.

Well, that's not very nice. Land of the Lost is certainly all over the place musically, but it is a fine effort with some neat moments and a pair of good themes.

Is it okay that I like what I've heard of it (in terms of the music on its own)? I loved the movie, but was disappointed I could barely hear the music (save the action scenes).

What? Land of the Lost is one of his best!

I don't know the run time of the CD, but the score seemed very scarce in the film. A lot less music than your average animated move.

It's roughly one hour of score... or close to that mark.

I don't know, to me this one just felt like Achtung Baby leftovers. I get that they wrote a lot of it when they were on the Achtung Baby tour so it makes sense that it would sound similar, and it's nowhere near as grating as Pop or How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, but that's still the moment when I started losing interest in their music.

Why are we talking about this on a film score message board by the way?

Are you talkin' U2 to me? I will not apologize for liking "Numb."
