A friend of mine asked me about movies featuring countdown such as T minus ten...nine and etc. And most preferrably space related movies. My immediate thought was James Bond movies such as Thunderball and Moonraker but there has to be a lot more I imagine. So please help me help my friend.
Certainly diamonds are forever and you only live twice had countdowns.
"one minute...and counting..."
But you asking for countdown sequences in films or their musical accompaniment? Presumably just countdown sequences?
Since I put my question on the NON-FILM score discussion side of the board then it should be quite clear that it is countdown sequences in the films, NOT their music accompaniment but on the other hand I can give my friend those musical accompaniments as a bonus.

Does there have to be a countdown clock in the narrative or will just a timed ultimatum do?
Barry Jones runs off with an atomic bomb in his briefcase and threatens to nuke London unless a guarentee to stop atomic testing is announced by the BBC. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0042949/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl. Think there is a countdown clock in Police Headquarters.
Charlton Heston pilots an intercontinental jet with a bomb on board in 'Skyjacked'
Gregory Peck in The Most Dangerous Man in the World (1969, US Title "The Chairman') gets implanted with a self-destructing device. In the UK advertisement there is a timer clock in the picture.
More to follow I expect when the brain gets working.
I like the hand-off from the helm to the gunner, like a World War II bomber pilot handing off to the bombardier.
(PS—Anyone know what I'm doing wrong with the "special code" for YouTube? Every time I try it, the posted message comes up with an empty hole saying page not found.)
According to some film historians, the first time a Countdown was utilized not only on the screen but ANYWHERE was in Fritz Lang's silent sci-fi classic WOMAN IN THE MOON -- many years, obviously, before NASA appropriated it for actual space travel.
