What was the "lady in the parlor" remark about Kim Novak? This surprises me, P. I always thought you were the epicenter of all filmic knowledge prior to 1970. I guess I should revise my thinking to consider you the epicenter of all scholarly filmic knowledge prior to 1970. (If someone wants to hear GOSSIP about this era, then they need to come sit next to ME. ) Anyway, I didn't say the whole phrase because it uses a word that has been used against women for ages. Since you asked, I'll quote it in full, albeit with the spoiler function. I think it was either Richard Quine or Terence Young who described Novak's looks as promising her to be a "lady in the parlor and a whore in the bedroom."
