It'll take peanuts (sorry) in the UK opening so soon after that little Disney space flick!
There is some overlaps in the audiences for these movies, but I would not say that these movies are really competing. Disney has really been pushing this family movie aspect of Star Wars with the interminable drum beat of marketing, but Star Wars The Force Awakens is PG, they did not want it to be PG13 for sure. But Force Awakens is not a "family movie" to me, not in the same way that Peanuts Movie is, or Good Dinosaur. I would imagine that there will be some measure of Star Wars fatigue in the audiences everywhere, especially families, and they will happy to see Peanuts or Good Dinosaur.
I was going to say "enough with the Star Wars crap!" but then I remembered that FSM is a Star Wars forum, first and foremost.
If the movie disappoints, there is always those great 1960s-70s "Peanuts" TV specials and fifty years' worth of classic comic strips (which I lovingly linked to above--though one really should buy the books). The comic strip was often wickedly funny, sweet, but also gently satiric of just about everything. "Peanuts" is an American treasure--even if, going by the remarks on this thread, it's an exclusively American one.
