The composer recycled quite a bit of his score from first film and vetoed a release because he just felt there wasn't enough new music to release on CD.

Hm thanks for that info! Maybe you can tell us more information or a place where to read something more about that? Even the intro theme is so great, better arranged than on the first film.
The question is now: If the demand was not a problem, would the opinion of the composer be one?
That came from SILVA SCREEN, as I used to work for them I asked why they didn't do the soundtrack for the second film and it was explained to me.
Perhaps the composer would be open to a remastered re-release of his first score, followed by a suite on the same disc premiering the most unique music from the sequel?
Only if you ignore Top Gun (which did better both domestically and internationally - it was 1986's biggest hit). Paramount also had Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and even The Golden Child that year - also, they didn't actually makeCrocodile Dundee (they had the North American release rights).
