VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN LLLCD 1368
Music by Craig Armstrong
RETAIL PRICE: $15.98

STARTS SHIPPING NOV 19th

ORDER “VICTOR FRAKENSTEIN” at www.lalalandrecords.com on NOV 19th starting at 12noon.
La-La Land Records, 20th Century Fox and Fox Music present the CD release of the original motion picture score to the feature film VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN, starring Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy, Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott and Freddie Fox. The film is directed by Paul McGuigan from a screen story and screenplay by Max Landis. The producer is John Davis. The film opens in theaters everywhere November 25.

Acclaimed composer Craig Armstrong (FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD, THE GREAT GATSBY, LOVE ACTUALLY, MOULIN ROUGE!) unleashes a powerhouse orchestral score to propel this dynamic and thrilling twist on a legendary tale, starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe. Radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (McAvoy) and his equally brilliant protégé Igor Strausman (Radcliffe) share a noble vision of aiding humanity through their groundbreaking research into immortality. But Victor’s experiments go too far, and his obsession has horrifying consequences. Only Igor can bring his friend back from the brink of madness and save him from his monstrous creation. Brimming with dramatic thrills and sweeping emotion, Armstrong’s score is a feast for the ears and one of the year’s most notable works.

“Craig is a true artist that needs to understand the director’s vision,” says director Paul McGuigan, “He really wants to understand the ideas and the drive behind each scene and how this affects character and action… He creates work that elevates and complements your work and ultimately he makes the film better… he makes you better.”

“From the very start we had the same artistic vision for the music,” remarks composer Craig Armstrong. “We discussed certain sound elements and phrases we wanted to include among the orchestral elements of the score. We blended the orchestra with vintage synthesizers and unusual acoustic instruments like the glass armonica. The score was written in my studio in Glasgow over several months and finally recorded at Air Studios in London.”

Produced by Craig Armstrong and mastered by Simon Francis at Simon Francis Mastering, this special CD soundtrack release will be available at www.lalalandrecords.com on November 17, 2015 and at major music retailers on November 20, 2015. A digital download version will also be available from Fox Music.

RETAIL PRICE: $26.98

La-La Land Records, Paramount Pictures and The Carmen Dragon Music Library present La-La Land’s world premiere vinyl LP release -- composer Carmen Dragon’s (COVER GIRL, WHEN IN ROME, KISS TOMORROW GOODBYE) original motion picture score to the classic 1956 sci-fi chiller INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, starring Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter and Larry Gates, and directed by Don Siegel. Renowned composer/conductor/arranger Carmen Dragon creates an astoundingly complex and groundbreaking work, (his inventive use of low, staccato piano notes for suspense would inspire many composers to do the same) that perfectly emboldens the film’s sci-fi terror and paranoia, while never neglecting the story’s human emotions or its psychological and sociological underpinnings. Produced for La-La Land Records by Carmen Dragon’s son-in-law, Richard “Rick” Henn and Neil S. Bulk, with an analog transfer from the original full-track mono session tapes, restored and mastered by Stephen Marsh, and lacquers cut from the restored, high-resolution digital master by Kevin Gray, this limited edition release of 1000 Units is pressed on 180 gram, pod-green vinyl and features beautiful, haunting original album art by artist Miles Teves! In-depth liner notes by film music writer Jeff Bond, grace the inner jacket in headline-grabbing newspaper fashion, designed by Dan Goldwasser. I have a AIRPLANE II - BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - GALACTICA 1980 suggestion, but I think the G80-scores
need their own CD release, also their own tread; so:

Let's nip this in the bud please. Personally I don't think it's what any of the labels want to see after their hard work, somebody announcing their lack of interest so abruptly. But on the other hand, it's not against the rules, and calling someone a jerk is only going to start an argument and detract from what's actually a pretty cool item—an Airplane II CD, with the Bernstein and Stu Phillips interpolations.

All due respect to Airplane II, what I'm really excited for is Armstrong's Victor Frankenstein, since his gorgeous score to Far from the Madding Crowd was unexpectedly my favorite thing so far this year. I haven't had a chance to listen to the sound clips yet but I'm very excited to do so, and it looks like LLL has given us a generous 70 minute program!

Maybe people should at least check out sound clips before dismissing something just because it's not a Jaws-caliber title. Some of my favorite albums ever were for things I'd never heard of before, like Fred Karlin's Ravagers, John Scott's Shoot to Kill, or Lee Holdridge's In Search of Peace. And that's just from Intrada...don't even get me started on all the obscure gems Lukas rescued on FSM (Eye of the Devil, anyone?)

Personally, I think the obscure titles are very often better than famous popular titles that sell a lot more copies (*cough*BTTF*cough)!

It isn't against the rules - unlike much of what Ford brings to this forum.

Either way, not my cup of tea either and I don't think there is nothing wrong with saying that. Labels should know what people are and aren't interested in, so they can run their business best.

The labels probably get that message from the popularity (or lack) of thread discussion, and more importantly sales figures.

Yes, I notice one of the board rules is to "be nice to each other"!

Sadly, it's a good rule, but so many who yell about it, don't honor it.

Selective memory I suspect.

I think sales figures speak loudly enough that people don't need to proclaim their lack of interest in the product thread.

Also, while Ford is not a mod, Tony Renaud does have a very high ratio of trollish comments. Admittedly sometimes I can't quite tell if he's truly being an ass or if sarcastic nuance is being lost in translation.

Anyway, I'm really excited for Victor Frankenstein. Armstrong has composed some of my favorite scores in the last few years -- Incredible Hulk, Madding Crowd, and so forth.

The score is really good and it was great to work with Fox and Mr. Armstrong on this new project. We even made the end credit crawl this time so we feel immortal.

I listened to Airplane 2 and it's a FUN score and so cool to hear Stu's music and Alf's music and all those great Elmer themes again. Awesome job by LLL and the liner notes are top notch along with great photos. Again, LLL shows all the labels how to do a release!

Really surprised how much I am digging Airplane II! Aside from the Battlestar reference I hadn't remembered the score but I am a big fan of Bernstein's original and love how his themes are used in the sequel. Almost loving it better then the original with the more modern approach to them...

I don't really have any interest in the movie, but the Victor Frankenstein samples sound great. Definitely going on my wish list!!

Same with Airplane II. I'm digging the samples!

Just being honest, I haven't necessarily been that excited with the more recent LLL releases, but I wasn't with Intrada either until they released BTTF and Jaws.

I'm kind of a movie luddite and soundtrack snob in that I don't really watch newer movies for their soundtracks because I have the possibly irrational bias that they all suck (the only recent soundtrack I can remember as being good was How To Train Your Dragon). But that's my taste.

I seem to prefer these older movies and while I'm not interested in Victor Frankenstein (never seen it or heard of it) I am interested in Airplane II, even though I had never seen that one either, just because I prefer the older soundtracks. So I'm watching Airplane II right now to see if the music is worth it - it's pretty good so far!

In any event, these releases come and go in waves and there will inevitably be more "boring" periods of time than others.

But I always appreciate all the work that these labels do - and I understand it's hard to secure the more hard-hitting releases. I've gotten so many great gems in the past and I'm very thankful smile
