The first time I ever saw it was when my older brother had rented it on vhs back when and it didn't make a lot of sense. I hadn't seen the series at that point and after I got through the tv show, I watched it again and still found it offbeat and Lara Flynn Boyle being replaced didn't help. It wasn't till years later that I really got into the movie and last year's blu-ray release made me appreciate it even more. A case where a movie of Lynch's I first regarded as one of his worst, I now consider amongst his best. Get the original soundtrack, FIRE WALK WITH ME and the downloadable material previously mentioned. I also HEARTILY recommend this year's GULDKYSTEN/GOLD COAST, which he did with Johan Carøe, Lasse Martinussen, Kwamie Liv and Mads Heltberg. It's not only one of Badalamenti's best scores of all time, it's one of the best scores of 2015 in general! Beyond that, you should also check out BLUE VELVET, COUSINS, CITY OF THE LOST CHILDREN, STRAIGHT STORY and STALINGRAD. Yes, it's been a pain point that I've gone this long without committing to a purchase, but for $9.90, it's hard to kick myself for having waited. I downloaded but have not had a chance to spin yet.
