This is George Takei, celebrity with a lifestyle very few in this country, non-white and white who have mortgages to pay and families to feed and other things to worry about have any access to. That's who is being judged.
I wouldn't want to trade places, especially the naked wrestling matches every Sunday.
One thing I'll say about George Takei is that he seems to have mastered the game of using social media as a publicity vehicle. I don't know why anyone but the most hardcore fan would give an ounce of tribble shit what he thinks about anything, but apparently they do (by evidence of the replies in this thread if nothing else). Good job, George.

Howard Stern is largely responsible for George's more recent celebrity. And George is a very eloquent spokesman for equality, IMO.
I saw Allegiance on Tuesday. Credit where it's due, I thought it was very moving. George Takei's dual character role was very fitting and I thought the multiple angles on how this group of Americans handled this grave injustice was well done. One side wants to show how devoted they are to their country, another wanted to show how terrible their country has been to them. Each side is right to do the things they do, but the real drama comes when these two approaches conflict. Pride, honor and prejudice all play an important part in the play and each carries it's own unforeseen consequences to their respected characters.
