Have you ever heard of this 1985 film released in English speaking countries as Creature or (The) Titan Find? I hadn't. Have you ever heard of the film's composers & conductors Thomas Chase and Steve Rucker? I hadn't.
I've disassociated myself from TV, as in TV channels, though I still watch some TV series, mostly on dvd/bluray boxes. Because of my "no-TV" I'm missing out on a lot of reruns of bad movies. Creature is one of them.
I came across this on youtube. I was taking a nap and wanted to have a terrible movie playing while I napped on my couch, just for backround noise. The production values of the film weren't high, but the music sounded very nice. I first thought it must be tracked from other films, but the end credits suggest that the music was composed and conducted by Chase & Rucker. If it was tracked music from previously recorded sources, I certainly didn't recognize it.
Do you have any more information on the music of this film or the composer duo? Google didn't help me much. I would very much be interested in seeing an actual release of this film's score, if in fact the music heard in the film is original material.
Barring Ennio Morricone's films (a composer whose whole catalogue I wish to own one day), this is probably the most obscure film I feel like requesting the score of. I youtubesearched something like "80s scifi" and found this movie. Wikipedia tells me the film is Public Domain, which I didn't know could even be applied to films.

youtube link of movie, you'll have to search for yourself

I realize I badmouthed the movie. I do not wish to start a debate on that. Let's talk about the music, if any of you have seen this or are ready to go through the trouble of seeking this out from youtube.

Though I can't recall the score in specific terms, I remember thinking it was very nice when I saw the film as a kid (I just LOVED the poster art as a little tyke). A few nice lush thematic cues for a love scene or two early on, and a big timpani-pounding opening I recall being in the vein of Capricorn One's overture.

Ah, whole film in on Youtube:

Not familiar with either composer, but perusing their IMDBs it looks like they've had a hugely prolific run in children's cartoons that's still going strong - And they're still co-composing together.

Indeed they have been busy. I also checked amazon but the few discs that have been released are too expensive for my budget. And not really knowing anything of these projects I cannot buy blind. Perhaps I shall check if some of their films are available on youtube.

Really nice clips. I can see why these guys moved away from horror quickly.

Rented the film for Halloween season last month...there's so much Goldsmith in this, I thought that Richard Band was the composer. wink

Hey now, as a (orchestral-mode-only) Band fan, I take offense to this! I mean... It could just as well have been a Chris Young score from this era too by that logic.

Tee hee.

Saw this film in the early or mid '90s and I couldn't remember any of the music (or anything about it really, except for the monster on the VHS cover) so I watched the beginning on YouTube and took a few minutes to skim through and it is a surprisingly good score. And those "Little Nemo" clips are very nice indeed. Looking through their filmography, it turns out I'd heard quite a lot of their music growing up.

Steve Rucker has a website:

http://www.steveruckermusic.com/

A cursory wading through reveals no sound clips from 1980s/90s projects, but there are several sections of clips that are more or less synth-based library music & all of this sounds very, very different from "Creature" and "Little Nemo."
