Just a query, I frequently order from Amazon.com and have them shipped to a relatives place in New York. Im charged sales tax. Being a non resident can I get a rfund of these taxes. Since orders placed and sent directly to country(Pakistan) show zero tax charges. Can I be get US based sales tax deductions refunded?

Items that go out of country can be duty free Amer.
Otherwise the tax must be paid, as far as I know.
Similar to the EU tax.

There's this article:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2012/10/08/confused-by-amazon-taxes-youre-not-alone/

smile

Tax is calculated on where the item is shipped, it mentions there. That article lists 8 U.S. states specifically and New York state is one of them for taxes. Later saying "But if you buy new tangible goods and have them shipped to you in any of 45 states or D.C., you should pay your use tax." Even though it's not "to you" technically if you live abroad (you're not living in New York), it's to the party whom you've appointed as your designate to receive the items.

Thanks for the clarification guys! It appears I cant obtain refund unless I have US tax exemption documents.
