Me too! Quite surprised too that he was "only" 86. Before I clicked on the obit, I imagined it saying that he was about 100. I suppose that's because (without really thinking about it) I just assumed he was much older in THIS ISLAND EARTH than he actually was (26 or 27). Leading actors tended to be much older than that back then.

And it was reported that his actor brother, Rhodes, died about a month ago.

These, by the way, were their real names.

Always liked their mellow voices, but thought their acting was pretty wooden.

At least, Rex got one classic sci-fi film on his resume'. I've always enjoyed THIS ISLAND EARTH.
