Well... I don't remember this ever happening.... There's this particular website that I've been a member of for at least 12 years, and for some reason over the past few days I can NOT log on.... my username automatically comes up when I get on the site, but when I enter my password, it won't accept it. HOWEVER, if I get on any OTHER computer, like at the library, it RECOGNISES my password and I can get on. And also... I just now noticed when I started this topic, when THIS page came up, it took a LONG time for the smilies at the bottom to appear, which has NEVER happened! I ran my "Windows Defender" earlier, and it said there were no viruses. This computer is only about 6 years old and I've NEVER had any problems with it. So... is the problem with that website, or is it indeed something wrong with my computer? HELP!

Have you tried fully clearing your browser's browsing history? Have you tried installing a brand new browser by a different vendor on your machine? What is your keyboard like? Does it have the number pad on the right hand side?

Yes, sometimes log in issues or problems with websites are not the fault of the person trying to get in.

I have it set up to delete temp files, etc., upon "exit"... whatever "exit" means! Nope, haven't installed a new browser, and I've been reluctant to install Firefox, though in the past few months I've actually warmed up to that browser. My keyboard has the number pad on the right side, and up on top as well. Also, this is a DESK top. I can log on to that website just fine using my laptop. Oh... also... I have dial-up on my desk top, but I wouldn't think that's the problem... but then, what do I know!?

Be sure to pull down "Tools," open "Delete Browsing History," and clear out your cookies. Also, ensure it isn't something dumb like the caps lock key messing up your password.

Jim. I see you set Internet Explorer to delete temp files upon "exit". Let's check and see if it does indeed delete everything, or if it only removes selected few. Before going through this, always make sure you have a backup of your bookmarks and favorites. 1. When you open your Internet Explorer, press the ALT key on your keyboard for the menu bar (with items like "File", "Edit", "View", etc) to appear. 2. Find and click on "Tools" 3. From the "Tools" menu, select "Internet Options". This is usually the last option on that menu. 4. A new window opens. By default this window opens the "General" tab where you get to tick the option that deletes browsing history files on exit. Make sure that box is ticked. 5. From the same page, click the "Delete..." button. 6. From the window that opens here, Be sure "Preserve Favorites website data" is NOT ticked. 7. From the same window, be sure that all other options are ticked. 8. Click the "Delete" button from the bottom of this window. You likely won't see a progress bar or anything (at least there isn't anything on the recent versions of the browser). Give it some time. 9. You should be back to the first Internet Options menu. Click OK again to close it. 10. Try visiting your website again. If your problem still persists let me know and we'll take it a step further. You should really consider installing another browser too. You won't lose your Internet Explorer functionality and at times like this it becomes easier to isolate problems.
