MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30

THE WALKING DEAD---Andrew Lincoln said about Season 6's final episode which airs in April, "We just wrapped 24 hours ago on what I think is the darkest and most extraordinary season finale that we've ever attempted. To say that I'm excited would be a vast understatement. And it ends with a very big bang."
Also, AMC released a prologue for the second half of Season 6 which introduces new villain Negan played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The series returns on February 14.

DOCTOR WHO---Peter Jackson released a video about possibly directing an episode of DOCTOR WHO.

PREDATOR---writer Fred Dekker (THE MONSTER SQUAD) said he's finished the sequel script to the original 1987 movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, “The writing is so fresh, the perspective is so fresh. I’m telling you you’re going to get something you don’t expect and you’re going to say, ‘This is the most entertaining way to reinvent a franchise.’” Shane Black (IRON MAN 3, LETHAL WEAPON) rewrote the script for the original movie and also appeared in it.

GREMLINS 2---Zach Galligan said the remake of the 1984 movie is actually a sequel, "It's not going to be a reboot. It will not be a remake in any way, shape, or form. Chris Columbus has come out and said that the first film is very near and dear to his heart and as long as he is alive it will never be remade.
So the only thing they will be – and apparently are going to be – doing is something along the lines of like JURASSIC WORLD, where it will be 30 years later."

ALIEN---Ridley Scott said he's planning for three more prequels, “Its a very complex story. Its an evolution of what I first did with Prometheus 1. Prometheus 1 was borne out of my frustration that on Alien 1 in 1979 – I only did one as I don’t normally do sequels. I was amazed that in the 3 that followed that no-one asked the question ‘why the Alien, who made it and why?’ Very basic questions. So I came up with the notion of Prometheus 1, which starts to indicate who might have made it and where it came from.”
Scott added: “So I’m now going to the next one, which is the next evolution directly connected with the first one, which was this Shaw, when [s]he replaced Michael Fassbender in two pieces and we’ll kind of pick it up there and it will evolve. When that’s finished there’ll be another one and then another one which will gradually drive into the back entrance of the film in 1979… So in other words, why was this space jockey there and why did he have an Alien inside him? And those questions will be answered.”

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS---JJ Abrams commented on the lightsaber duel between Finn and Kylo Ren, "When you look at Star Wars and Empire, they are very different lightsaber battles, but for me they felt more powerful because they were not quite as slick [as the prequels]. I was hoping to go for something much more primitive, aggressive and rougher, a throwback to the kind of heart-stopping lightsaber fights I remembered being so enthralled by as a kid."

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6---Christopher McQuarrie (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-ROGUE NATION) confirmed he's returning as writer/director of the sequel.

OPERATION DELIRIUM--Jennifer Lawrence will direct this dark comedy movie based on a NEW YORKER article about an Army colonel who conducted nonlethal weapon experiments using LSD, marijuana and BZ with 5,000 Army volunteers in the 1960s.

WHITE KNIGHT---Scott Cooper (BLACK MASS) will direct and rewrite this possible franchise move about a disgraced Secret Service agent whose job is to protect the family of an international arms dealer which involves a global CIA manhunt.

SUPERGIRL---CBS gave the series a full season order. Also, there will be a SUPERGIRL/THE FLASH crossover at the end of SUPERGIRL's Season 1 involving the 100,000 Kryptonians who came to Earth after Brainiac released them from Kandor's Bottle City.

SUBMERSIBLE---Alicia Vikander (EX MACHINA) is in negotiations to co-star with James McAvoy in this movie based on the novel about two lovers who are in life-threatening situations. Her character is exploring the ocean floor in a submersible while McAvoy's character is being held prisoner by Jihadists in Somalia.

THE GIRL BEFORE---Ron Howard will direct this movie based on the upcoming novel about "a traumatized woman [who] falls in love with an extraordinary minimalist house and with the man who designed it. But when she discovers that three years earlier another damaged woman died here, she starts to wonder if her own story is just a re-run of the girl before."

Well, I certainly hope it's better than the very weak first half of season 6 which ended last night with a whimper. I like this series but this latest set was just boring....and the big surprise was not a surprise at all. BTW,how many more commercials can they squeeze in?

I hope this is true, as the first ones simply don't need remaking. Whether the story needs to be continued is another matter.

The whole Alien / Prometheus thing seems to be getting way too convoluted now. I could go with three prequels in all, but now there's four in total (including Prometheus)? This sounds like too many ideas are getting tossed around and no-one's keeping control of the reigns.

I hope Dekker didn't tear his rotator cuff with all that patting of his own back.

In all seriousness, Predator doesn't need any rethinking. That's the huge issue with lots of movies these days. They're so concerned with reinventing the wheel that they forget to make it interesting. Just make a good film! Tell a good story with interesting, believable characters.

Watch Fury Road.

Best thing I've heard so far about Force Awakens! JJ must have read my comments on CA. wink
Enough with the super ninja acrobatic silliness.

After watching Ray Park whip a double-ended saber around, everything else seems "meh."

which implies that he doesn't feel Predator 2 counts as a sequel. You can't really blame him.

Well, you know what they say - go big or go home.

I approve of both of these. I also hope that a) Melissa Benoist shares screen time with Shantel VanSanten in a bid to break cuteness meters everywhere and b) at some point the question of why no one in Central City (or Star City, but that's another series) ever mentions the big guy comes up.

They are excellent. The Plinkett Star Trek reviews are also fun. I enjoy their Half in the Bag and Best of the Worst in particular too.

Last I'd read the Supergirl/Flash crossover was just rumor. I love the idea though it will mess up that Diggle in Arrow has trouble believing in powered people is Superman is in their universe.

Maybe Superman & Supergirl only exist in Earth 2 / another earth?

As to Alien, I wish Scott would walk away from it like Lucas & SW.

Yeah, that's been very clear for a while now.
Edit: Now I read on the other side of the board, a new "Cantina" scene? roll eyes

Trust me: you wouldn't find him funny if you knew him as well as I did.

I agree. Series has been good and well-made up to a point But i am so irritated by these entire shows devoted to one/two characters while the main plot of the zombie horde was left untouched/ half covered for 3 weeks. That aint clever or stylish, its just annoying dragging the outcome out.

Spoiler (for anyone who hasnt seen final episode yet.)
The biggest irritant for me was the whole nonsense with carol and the scummy man with W on his head. So he gets a knife at the throat of the trainee doc lady and two of the group come in with pistols. Do they just blow the guy away with a close range shot to the head? Something the two of them do competently every day with walkers? No, they suicidally hand over their guns to the killer. Total arsewipe nonsense.

And yet magic (hi, Damien Darhk), bringing people back to life and a guy who can peel cards off his body and use them like shuriken are all right?
