Release Date: December 1, 2015

Music Box Records is pleased to present the world premiere release of acclaimed composer Alan Silvestri's (Back to the Future Trilogy, Predator, The Walk) original score to the 2000 action thriller Reindeer Games, starring Ben Affleck, Gary Sinise, Charlize Theron and James Frain, and directed by John Frankenheimer (Seven Days in May, French Connection II, The Fourth War).

Written by Ehren Kruger (Arlington Road, Scream 3, The Brothers Grimm), the film tells the story of Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck) and his cellmate Nick Cassidy (James Frain) who are both about to be freed from jail when Nick is murdered during a prison brawl. Rudy assume's his late cellmate's identity when his pen-pal-like girlfriend Ashley Mercer (Charlize Theron) comes to find him. But Ashley's brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise) and his crew of deadly criminals think Rudy has some inside information to rob a casino where the real Nick once had a job.

The icily humorous score is packed with rhythmic orchestral suspense and electronic minimalism. Alan Silvestri composes the thrilling tension and chase cues with his signature propulsive action music, while also offering soaring, lush melody as "Nick" quickly discovers that Ashley certainly isn't the sweetheart he imagined her to be.

The soundtrack debut of Reindeer Games is presented in stereo from pristine-condition from digital scoring session mixes, featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Daniel Schweiger and new comments by Alan Silvestri on his collaboration with director John Frankenheimer.

Very cool! I love premiere releases more than anything else, and that this happens to be by one of my favourite composers makes it even greater. Of course, I have no memory of the film (I THINK I've seen it) or the music therein, but this will be a good opportunity to familiarize myself with it.

Not to play devil's advocate or anything, but you do know this release is C & C right? And if it were released back then, it probably would have been a shorter release.

So if a premiere release is C & C you don't mind, but when a score is expanded, you do?

I do mind, of course, but a C&C is certainly better than nothing at all.

Great to see another Silvestri Score got a release (however: Polar Express would have been a better choice to my opinion!wink) This is for certain not one of my favorit scores from mr. Silvestri it has definately some nice moments though.

I don't see it up at SAE yet, so I bit the bullet and ordered directly from Music Box.

Can't believe it's been 15 years since this came out. I remember going to see it opening weekend with my ex.
I kept waiting for Varese or someone to put the CD out and then just lost hope. Very glad to finally have it.
The ice/shotgun scene and Nick's failed escape attempt are the two cues that stick out in my mind. Can't wait to finally hear it and read the liner notes. Very curious to read Silvestri's thoughts on working with Frankenheimer.

This was one of my last most wanted Silvestri scores along with Mission:Impossible.

Keep it up, Music Box!

The movie's pretty stupid (not helped on its British release by a title change to Deception), but it gets points for the line "Santa Claus is kicking the shit out of your guards!" I'll order it ASAP.

It's surprises like this that gives hope that Silvestri's music to the underrated Sidekicks (1992) will also see the light of day. Also, a Blu-ray release wouldn't hurt, as well.

Nice release. If I hadn't already broke the bank on other releases this past month I would have been all over this.

Maybe I`m a bit stupid but what does C & C mean?
