As long as the trailer features a slow, somber piano rendition of the original movie's theme, I'm down with whatever.

Masamichi Amano, Reijiro Koroku or Kaoru Wada.

This would be amazing but you and I both know, good sir, that will not be the case.

Nor will it be Christopher Gordon or Fernando Velazquez, as much as I'd love that, nor, say, Roque Banos, a realistic candidate given his current industry stature, and a good one given his scores for GOD IS ON THE AIR and his very blatantly CONAN-inspired early work, HEART OF THE WARRIOR.

But we know it'll be none of these, and we know that Poledouris' thematics will not likely make any appearance beyond, maybe, a cursory quote or nod.

It'll be Junkie XL or Ramin Djawadi or one of those guys and we know EXACTLY what it'll sound like.

Masamicz Amano would be really great. Can you imagine that magnificent brass writting.

Other choice: Don Davis, Lalo Schifrin, John Ottman

Bear McCreary would be my first choice.

Christopher Lennertz next...

and if you wish to think outside the box.... SEAN CALLERY

Have you been watching Marvel TV shows lately?

No, i've just known them for the last 15 years or so..

They all due outstanding work.

FYI, heard a rumor that Sean Callery's MARVEL'S JESSICA JONES Might be showing up next month on ITUNES..

That would make me very happy.

Looking at the various replies here it seems evident that people want a competent composer to provide the score for the broad canvas that Conan would require. I also feel that people fear that the project will be handed to one of the minions of Remote Control Productions. Don't get me wrong I love a lot of Hans Zimmer's work and he might possibly be a choice but I am underwhelmed at the idea of the job going to for instance Ramin or Lorne. Paul Verhoeven was once linked to this project but I'm not sure that this is still the case but I imagine that he would prefer someone akin to Poledouris or Goldsmith. It would also be nice to see a nod to Poledouris, maybe an update like the way John debney did for Predators, but an original score would be something to really look forward to. whatever happens let's hope it is not another wasted opportunity.

We need somebody who can combine both 'Epic' Rozsa-esque sweeping music, grandeur and 'barbaric', like Poledouris achieved. And somebody who knows how to follow & enhance character, character motivations, and story with music. I nominate Christopher Young.

The original score by Basil Poledouris should simply be re-applied to this belated sequel. There is no such thing as a better score, and it would invest the sequel with continuity to the first film.

Failing that, the only appropriate sensibility would be Elia Cmiral.

Completely agree!
Take The Monkey King, a just imagine this like a Conan score, how dare you say it is not perfect sword & sorcery score?

It has to be Chris Lennertz. He knew Basil well, and would honor his legacy.
