A score-only release of POLAR EXPRESS would be nice, agreed, but there's so much else out there that it hardly takes up much of my desire.
No, a score-only release would be horrible and dumb.
A Silvestri-only is what's needed. He DID write a bunch of original songs, after all.
The biggest shame is that people would have issues if someone dared to release it at any time before Thanksgiving. As if someone how good music isn't good music when it's not at a certain time of year.
Maybe now that we got the umpteenth rerererelease of Home Alone out of the way will see this in the near future.
The difference is that Home Alone is a fun score to a fun movie.
My dislike for The Polar Express aside, I'm sure those of you who want it will get it in the next couple years. There's simply too many of you clamoring for this one each year for it to be ignored IMO, unless there's some serious licensing issue preventing its release.
Then again, what if Silvestri and or Tom Hanks are just too satisfied with the original album as it is? :O
I came here looking for information on a score only release since all I could find is the regular soundtrack with mostly only xmas tunes that have been released a million times before.
I watched the movie for the first time the other night and the score stood out the entire time. Sad to see there is no release for it.
Truth be told we tried to get the rights 2 years ago and were told another company snatched them up. That was in late 2013. Nothing happened for the 10th anniversary in 2014, so I had assumed it would be out this year, but nothing.

I am more interested in original themes not a bunch of scores that make use of overused Christmas tunes. I prefer scores that I can listen to year round rather than those that I can barely stand for two weeks out of the year if that. So the less Christmas scores the better for me. The only exception for me is Santa Claus because it is Christmas in feel but doesn't have a ton of Christmas melodies.

I can listen to Home Alone, Miracle on 34th Street, Blizzard, Polar Express, A Christmas Carol, and whatever else in March or August with no problem.....because it's enjoyable music. Why should the time of the year matter?
I have the FYC promo and it is a great listen. However it sounds like several cues has been joined together. Can Somebody tell me where to localise theses tracks in the movie? And how much music is still missing from this promo and I only mean the instrumental parts not the songs?
