It was a great concert, with some brillant, punchy and even wild performances. The more romantic pieces, like the love themes, were elegantly handled, also... the spirit of Rozsa was here, obviously.

I'm really happy you managed to record this event. I recommand this CD highly, even to thoses who estimate the program "too classic". It IS, but in a good sense : with Raine and the Prague Orchestra at their top, it's an absolute winner

Looks like an excellent 2 CD set, I'll buy a copy for sure. Great cover too.

I hope this CD set will introduce some new people to the genius of Miklos Rozsa!

Really looking forward to this (Couldn't make it to the concert).

The cover art is eye cancer-inducing though, but I'll simply invert the booklet. wink

The samples sound wonderful. Ordered.

Also, like to point out there are some great prices on some of Tadlow's previous releases as well in the sale on at the moment. Fall of the Roman Empire, El Cid, Villa Rides, Mad Max, Exodus, Private Lives of Sherlock Holmes, Taras Bulba, even the insanely excellent Obsession amongst others.

Ordered both this and Blue Max (still not sure I really needed this after the LLL version but hey, it's Christmas... almost), along with El Cid (upgrade from the 2 disc version), and Notre Dame de Paris.

Keep up the great work James.

PS, I assume the whole Moonraker thing never sorted itself out? Shame, but these things happen I guess. Still many other scores out there still deserving a new recording.

I like the cover art.

Any CD cover with Conrad Veidt on it can't be all bad! smile

Keep expecting Rozsas mouth to open and eat the others. Maybe I've watched too much Monty Python recently...

I wouldn't say that's very apparent from the clip of the Ben-Hur Love Theme.

You can glean that in 30 seconds? Seemed okay to me...for 30 seconds.

some people will always complain .....

Really? These are some of my posted comments on your products:

SODOM & GOMORRAH: 'I've played the new set and it's outstanding. Up till now, I've rated The
Alamo and El Cid as the best from this source, but Sodom and Gomorrah is perhaps the best of the lot. Vibrant and thrilling to listen to. The Battle of the Dam is superbly done. Congratulations to all involved'.

FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE: 'Listening now... or rather, resting before auditioning Disc 2. The first disc is so magnificent I need to regain my composure before continuing...magnificent sound and playing, ... we have something very special here'.

EL CID: 'I've just finished my third full playing of the set. It's pretty remarkable really.... this is a treasure trove of legendary Rozsa that has been gifted to us.

OBSESSION: 'Excellent CD... All the parts I thought might foil attempts to measure up to the original are all expertly handled and sound great. 10/10... After a full audition, the only conclusion can be that this is outstanding... For those with Blu-Ray players, I suspect the pleasure will be all the greater.'

THE ALAMO: 'I think the Tadlow does a magnificent job of recreating the verve and excitement of the original action music – something I didn't think anyone would be able to do. Everything else about it is top class too. One of the best re-recordings ever in my opinion'.

And I also happened to mention that I wasn't impressed by the clip of the Ben-Hur Love Theme on the concert CD. Seems to me it's less about "Some people always complaining' and more about 'Some people can't tolerate a criticism'.

Try a different analogy: "Some parents can't tolerate a criticism of their children." That gets you closer to a dynamic that you often see in this forum, where the "parents" of many products mingle with diverse strangers.

I have been criticised many times in my 35 years of recording and always accept it ... not always well but I do take note and I do take everything to heart as totally passionate about what I do (some say too passionate and intense about the music) but I also reserve the right of reply...which sometimes people do not expect a music producer to do.

But, of course very very grateful also for your kind words and support over the years....I was just a bit miffed at a criticism over a 30 second extract from what is after all a live concert. Ah well

That was the point of my comment actually, that in the 30 seconds I couldn't detect any glaring sins. Now I'm interested in what Basil detected wrong so I can take another listen. I thought I knew this music, but I'm open to being further educated by someone of Basil's intelligence and refinement (no sarcasm intended).

And this is a Paul Bateman arrangement for Lucie ... not the concert suite version.....
