I picked up three, White, Mustard and Green. Tried to get Scarlett Violet, but they were all gone. These babies go quick. I bet today sometime they will be all sold out. Such a clever album. Can't wait to see the art better and up close in person. Mondo certainly knows what they are doing I must say.

Sorry, had to...

DAMN! They're all sold out already? That's 1500 copies! From the way LLL was talking about their disappointing sales of their superb CD issue, I think this is a title that sold better on LP than CD!

Congrats, Mondo. Good call (but should have made more)! I love this score and film...though I liked it even better when it was called Murder By Death.

Not only is this selling, but people are picking up SIX COPIES - one of each colour?

That's brilliant marketing (read: exploitation) right there! Wow.

I also agree this was brilliant on every level. Even the artwork is so damn cool! I was only able to pick up 3 colors, oh well. Hard to believe they sold 1500 vinyls in less than a day. Folks that should tell you how HOT vinyl is right now and why Varese is doing more of it, it's sells like hotcakes!

I was being sarcastic. It's ridiculous.

You're wrong. It's brilliant actually and prove positive, they sold 1500 vinyl in a matter of a couple of hours. Labels are doing more vinyl for obvious reasons, THEY SELL. Often times better than newer films.

But they're not selling for the music, they're selling for the novelty. Would you buy multiple copies of Clue for the music or the collectibility of multiple vinyl colours? Like I said: ridiculous!

Yeah, Mondo should not be used to measure the potential level of success for vinyl issues of film music. These sell because of the novelty. I'm sure Orange Is The New Black and Body Snatchers are not exactly flying off the shelves, though I think Orange Is The New Black was a No Returns title that record stores have to deal with for years to come at an ever-increasing discount.

The point is they're SELLING. Why does it matter to you why?

Because two formats are trying very hard to dominate the CD - both for the wrong reasons IMHO. Downloads (which are preferred for their convenience) and LPs (which are preferred for their novelty). CD still offers the best sound quality (and are therefore best for music lovers) thus it should matter to EVERYONE why these other formats are selling.

Downloads can and often do offer superior sound quality.

Potential is all very well, but CD is still the most common, consistent and available (in terms of global import/export) delivery mechanism for high quality music.

Desperation? Mondo's raking in the money! Varese, Intrada, and La-La Land are wise to compete for a piece of that pie.

I don't think vinyl will ever be a CD killer. I doubt there's a lot of crossover between the vinyl market and the CD market. Downloading and streaming are the real contributors.

I'll stick to CDs (for as long as the market supports it), but I'm not taking it as a personal affront that people buy other formats for reasons that appeal to them.
