WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3

MacGYVER---CBS reboot pilot underway based on the Richard Dean Anderson series that ran on ABC from 1985-1992.
CBS also ordered a pilot for BULL which is about the early days of Dr. Phil McGraw, including his first appearance on OPRAH.





THE EXORCIST---Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) will direct the Fox pilot based on the William Peter Blatty novel.





THE SOMETHING---comedy sci fi movie underway starring Seth Rogen, Bill Hader and Zach Galifianakis as three astronauts stranded in space for years who discover another spaceship.

REVIVAL---movie underway based on the Stephen King novel. Josh Boone (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) is the director. Boone will also direct King's THE STAND.

DESCENDER---Sony Pictures movie underway based on the comic book about TIM-21, a boy robot and his companions, who are pursued through space by those seeking his DNA which holds the key to the galaxy's future. Jesse Witugow (TRON 3) will write the script.

THE WORKER---Michael Pena (FURY, THE MARTIAN) stars in this movie as a member of Mexico's elite Special Forces who must rescue his wife and daughter after they were kidnapped by a drug cartel in Los Angeles.

STRONGER---Jake Gyllenhaal and Tatiana Maslany (ORPHAN BLACK) star in this movie based on the true story of a man who waits for his girlfriend, a runner in the Boston Marathon, at the finish line during the terrorist attack.

THE SLEEPING SHEPHERD---movie underway about a failed painter and his girlfriend whose European art heists lead to prison. After his mother retaliates by destroying priceless paintings, his own paintings soar in value. Michael Pitt, Imogene Poots, Willem Dafoe and Isabelle Huppert star.

CRUEL INTENTIONS---NBC sequel pilot underway based on the 1999 movie that starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe.

MARY MAGDALENE---Rooney Mara is in talks to star in this untitled Mary Magdalene biomovie.

I predict a bomb. When are they gonna learn it's the actor that makes a series in some cases?

They actually tried this several years ago, made a pilot only with a young McGyver. It was that Padalecki guy from Supernatural. I think it never even aired, and the series was shelved.

It seems like a bad idea to reboot it, but I guess you never know, but it sure shows how far the well has run dry. But on the plus side, it is not teenage vampires or zombies at least.

I totally agree and especially in this case. I can't imagine anyone bringing the same approach to the role as Richard Dean Anderson did.
