Any further update? Has Sony killed it?

Probably the latter, I was looking forward too Valhalla this being my 1st Plant-cd, Goodwin releases are so few & far between bummer.

FROM FB:

Good news everyone!

PlantSounds have FINALLY reached an agreement with Ron Goodwin's estate, and are now allowed to release some of his original demos for the Valhalla Score he did in the mid 80's.

This means we can finally start the process of pressing the cd.

We can't wait, as this is a great score, and the bonus-material makes our release something truly special! smile

Stay tuned!

Seems like a single disc release now, with only Goodwin bonus material and nothing from the two previous composers whose work I was curious about. Probably part of the agreement with the Goodwin estate. Nevertheless, I am still very interested in this release due to my love of Goodwin! The package looks great.

I’m really glad this was in the works well before the Sony Music sublicensing moratorium.

So, are we going to get to hear the rejected score on another disc, or is that out?

Very good news, indeed ! I have always admired the works of Ron Goodwin. His music is excitingly melodic.

Hi Justin.
There was never a rejected score for Valhalla.
After the 10 minute pilot was done (the music for which is on our new release), they suddently found themselves in a position to hire Goodwin.
Bent Hesselmann, one of the original composers, worked with Goodwin on the score, and some of his themes are incorporated into the final score!

Hope you enjoy the release smile

Are you sure you're alright, solium? Be careful now, we wouldn't want to get you too enthusiastic. Would break character.

I agree! A synth demo from a Silver Age pencil-and-paper composer would be quite a curiousity. Hopefully including it and the other demos won't raise the price too much...

Yavar

No, we'll include all the additional material at no extra cost smile

Planet Sounds ......just received the CD and the sound quality is astounding and comparing with previous X release is like black and white . A first class release is this so why not do The Trap another X release from years ago.

This sounds like a top notch score. Can't wait to get it. There's very few scores I elect to purchase right away nowadays.

Certainly not golden age, but a wonderful melodic listening experience.

Mine arrived. Very nice and worth the wait. Thanks, PlantSounds, for a fine release.
One small negative... the eight lines of notes on page 12 that are repeated in full on page 13. But for that error, the booklet and notes are very well produced.
