Bot the new Twilight Time blu ray, mainly because I wanted the parts of the score NOT available on the Varese Club CD.

Other surprises were in store.
I had never seen the short version of the film.
Back then, one would take the existing prints of the film and simply edit out the now extra scenes.
Here, new opticals have been made to overlap from one cut to another.

Second surprise, the roadshow version (supposedly used on the laser) looks FAR better here than it did on the laser.

third surprise - all of the day for night scenes in the short version are day here, by mistake. That's sloppy of mgm/ua but what can you expect from them?

Anyway, for other film score fans who also want to ciphon off the unreleased music tracks, heres where they are located.
0:00 the actual film overture ( varese used a longer, summed down to mono version from the record album)
8:05 when the credits end, there is an extra 20 seconds.
19:22 abner sneezes and sees Jerusha for the first time
21:05 song - My Wishing Doll (pulled from the final track of the film)
Jerusha and abner get to know each other.
23:36 Jerusha tells Abner about Rafer.
0104:28 malama realizes Jerusha is pregnant
The next missing cue, where abner promises Jerusha she will NOT die in childbirth is not here at all - guess that is missing for good.
01:36:345 Abner tells Jerusha he loves more than he loves God.
02:08:44 Malama is sad.
02:12:50 Malamas death - first use of actual film track. It sounds like varese could not find this and used a summed to mono LP track.
02:04:44 first release of the actual music track for finale and end cast. I suspect Varese could not find this and used the mixed track from the film (one can hear some sounds of waves)

Its too bad the road show, which now looks so much better than before, does not have the stereo track created for the laser disc (why?). but the roadshow does look so much better now.
