He would be 87 today on earth. I lost my Dad a year before Jerry. Dad would be 98 now. Remembering them both and the gifts they both shared. Dad loved Jerry's delicate BAD GIRLS Theme and the Maestro's GREMLINS Rag which Papa thought of as a great Tango. I shall play them both and remember all the wonderfulness. So glad Dad heard and saw Jerry conduct Live in San Jose in 1997.

Oh man, I can't even put into words how fortunate I feel to have started listening to and collecting Jerry Goldsmith's scores starting in 1980. My parents always got the Sunday New York Times, and I would pore over the movie ads in the hopes of seeing Jerry's name on a new flick, and when I did my adrenaline would go vooooom. Especially 1982 and 83, when he turned into a superhuman and produced all those masterpieces. First Blood. Poltergeist. Night Crossing. Under Fire. Twilight Zone: The Movie. The Secret of NIMH. Inchon. We were so spoiled by those musical riches, and the same could be said of his 60s and 70s work, too, and plenty in the 90s.

Happy Birthday, Jerry, wherever you are. If humans have souls, your music will always be a big part of mine until I kick the proverbial bucket.
