Apparently Bette Davis was peeved that she was playing Lillian Gish's OLDER sister. After a day's filming the cast and crew viewed the rushes. As one scene played someone said "Great close-up Lillian." Davis retorted "Well, it oughta be. Glad others have loved this score.
