"On Borrowed Time" (1939). A young boy and his cantankerous grandfather trick "Mr. Brink" (DEATH) into climbing their apple tree and refuse to let him climb down. However, while Brink is up in the tree no one on earth can die. Things work out but it's a four handkerchief ending and one you won't forget. Music by Franz Waxman. The film derived from a very popular stage play of the time and stars Lionel Barrymore and Sir Cedric Hardwicke. It's seldom seen on TV these days, but you can get a dvd through Warner's Archive series. Watch it if you can.
I did! Pride-Impossible-Kings. Rather eclectic trio...the Pride scene killed me, as usual...thought the cast was terrific in the tsunami flick...score eh...great production otherwise...was not real thrilled by the two male leads in Kings, particularly Cummings...Reagan came off better, not a good sign...but oh that Korngold theme that heralded the "important" picture to come...whoa!
An epic film for the ages with large audiences about life and death in a Welsh mining town. Music by Alfred Newman to tear your heart out and gorgeous black and white photography. SPOILERS
