From FMR:

Marco Beltrami has been tapped score the upcoming thriller The Shallows. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Non-Stop, Run All Night, Orphan) and stars Blake Lively and Oscar Jaenada.

The movie follows a young woman who is grieving the loss her mother and surfing in an isolated area when she gets stranded on a buoy and a gigantic great white shark comes between her and the shore. Anthony Jaswinski (Vanishing on 7th Street) has written the screenplay. Lynn Harris (The Notebook, Blade: Trinity) and Matti Leshem are producing the project.

The Shallows will be released on June 24, 2016 by Columbia Pictures.

It's like Stephen King's THE RAFT... But with a shark.

In the hands of a capable filmmaker this probably could have been suspenseful if not original. Since it's directed by a hired gun though, I won't be... Drum roll... Holding my breath!

Well... it has Blake Lively to look at and Marco Beltrami score to listen to... what else do you need? smile
that's certainly good enough for me smile)

It already looks better than the movie version of "The Raft" (done as part of Creepshow 2).

Guess the Serra/Ottman partership is over then?

Guess the Serra/Ottman partership is over then?

Apparently. (RUN ALL NIGHT was originally an Alan Silvestri project before he was replaced by Tom Holkenborg) Still, if Beltrami can channel some of his '"Shark Attack" from SOUL SURFER' intensity, could make for a fun listen.

Guess Ottman was too busy with X-Men.

Could it be that Beltrami loves surfing and sharks, and was really pushing for this project?

Maybe he can tap that Soul Surfer vein again and give us something memorable. More likely it'll be a generic thriller score. We'll see.

(Maybe it'll be a companion score to Deep Water, which had nothing to do with water but by name alone would seem to be a good match for The Shallows.)

I love sharks, but we need to give other animals a chance at horror movie stardom.

I've been crying for a killer blob fish movie for years. Maybe this'll be the year it happens...?

Soudtrack album should be released by Madison Gate Records (US) and Sony Classical (EU). Perhaps CD-R/shittunes in the US and proper AND PRESSED CD in Europe? Looks good! smile

Unfortunately, Sony Classical also does CD-R releases now, most recently Jeff Russo's Fargo: Year 2 and Rob Lane's Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands.

There is no info about Fargo 2 being a CD-R... where exactly did you get your copy from?

Or perhaps madison gate will do the songs album and sony will do the score... we'll see... smile
hopefully something will get confirmed by more reliable sources...

I can't find any info online about Beowulf being a CD-R either. They both came from a reliable seller (until now) from Amazon's Marketplace, along with regular pressed CDs for other titles.
