Talk about the new recording of THE THIEF OF BAGDAD has seemed to invaded THE BLUE MAX post...so I thought I had better start a separate discussion?

The new recording will be for Prometheus Records and funded by them and Produced for them by yours truly...

Leigh Phillips has finished all the score recreations ready in time for recording next week....in his research he has discovered lots of unused music or alternatives....so probably around 120 minutes of music in all....or even a bit more?

Wow! That's a lot of music!

Very much looking forward to this one. Could we please have it tomorrow? I realize you haven't recorded it yet, but as the customer, I'm always right.

It will be really great to hear newly recorded, complete "Thief of Bagdad" with original orchestrations like in the movie, all this wonderfully choruses and this timeless themes performed by Prague Orchestra.

Good luck with "Thief" James !

Perhaps a silly request, but is there any chance of all orchestral versions of the opening with both songs and the serenade to the princess? I find I really prefer instrumentals, although not having Sabu's singing will certainly help his song.

Anyone else find vocals intrusive?

I did have plans to include both vocal non vocal versions of some of the cues where possible...but you would be surprised how many songs Rozsa composed for the film that were not used....!

I'd also be very happy to get vocal-free versions of some of the songs, particularly I Want to Be a Sailor. If there's room on the set of course...

Exciting to hear about all the music written for the picture but not used in it.

Thanks for the updates James. Can't wait for both THIEF OF BAGDAD and DUEL IN THE SUN when ready.

Sounds like you have a LOT of THIEF OF BAGDAD music we never heard before! It just might be my favorite Rozsa score. 120 minutes! Yikes!

Thanks again for all your wonderful CDs James! smile

Thanks, James!

Very intrigued to hear the Rozsa songs. Since the film was originally conceived as a musical, this will be most interesting. I know the Genie was supposed to have a song, but I'm not aware of any others. In retrospect, it all seems more like a kind of operetta, than what we would nowadays call a "musical."

Really looking forward to this release!

I LOVE this cover idea! Takes me back to the good old days of album cover art.
