At first I was expecting the tone of the first two tracks to continue for the rest of the score and then track 3 came up, might be at least interesting.
Not sure if anyone knocked anything out of the park here
I didn't mean he knocked it out of the park by an absolute standard. Spartacus this ain't. I meant he knocked it out of the park relative to my expectations for the project.
Leaving aside how it's less insulting to have them use actual properties than making up products for the movie, suppose it had been the other way around (i.e. the dad completely overruling his son), would you still have had a problem?
At that point, the message would be fitting (and more akin to Lord Business, voiced by Ferrell). As it stands now, it seems as if the kid was angry that his father wouldn't let him touch dad's expensive themed sets. It's completely unclear whether the father built those sets because he didn't want to "play with toys" or wanted to hide his need to unleash his inner child. Oh well.
I'm in the fence about getting the score as I'm a bit like Jon on scores that are bombastic, relentless and ever-changing. It sounds like it fits the film great. Maybe it's a case of getting it and editing it down to favourite tracks to take the edge off?
If this isn't your cup of joe, then why you'd apparently watch the movie and review the score? I don't mean that in any way as some provocation, I'm genuinely confused as to why you chose to give it a chance.
