‘Marnie - From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ A 4-Track 45rpm Vinyl 7” EP Music Composed and Conducted by Bernard Herrmann
Stylotone in association with The Bernard Herrmann Estate, The Hitchcock Trust and Universal Pictures is proud to announce the World Premiere Release of ‘Marnie - From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’.
The 4-Track 45rpm Vinyl Only 7” EP features music from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1964 Production of ‘Marnie’. The EP has been assembled, mastered and cut by Sean Magee at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, London.
Isn't that just "wonderful." So, where's the rest of the score, and whatever happened to the U.S. label that was supposed to release the whole score YEARS ago?

It has been established in another thread that the full score will be released in one of those LP/CD/download combos by Stylotone, and that the US label that had hoped to release this was Intrada, but they couldn't ultimately make the deal.
Imagine if this record label represented some other composers... Here's ten minutes of Jurassic Park or half of a movement from Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto.
I'm kidding here, but keep in mind that this message board really isn't the target audience for Stylotone. I'm looking forward to La-La Land's upcoming WONDER WOMAN CD release, as well as Stylotone's upcoming LP/CD release of MARNIE and more Herrmann scores. And I really hope the WONDER WOMAN 7" sells out so LLL will be inclined to do more of these!
This would be a fine niche release if there was a legitimate complete original track release coming out as well. As it stands, a 4-track EP when a full album has yet to surface is a bit of a head-scratcher.

The full ost album of MARNIE is supposed to be out in Sept. from Stylotone, according to the audio interview with Mrs. Herrmann, conducted by Jonathan Ross, that was linked on a Stylotone thread here a while back.
Gotta love these Stylotone releases of Herrmann's music. I can't wait until the CD/download/LP/Thermos/8-Track/45 combo release coming our way for some insane price. The posts are probably going to be as vitriolic as those found in the Twisted Nerve thread. Sigh. If only we could have a somewhat reasonable CD-only release of this music.
Looking back on my previous posts, I have to say that I am a bit ashamed. Regardless of Stylotone's policy of releasing scores only in 45 RPM vinyl/LP Vinyl/CD/download combinations, at least least they are getting these scores out there. Thanks.
