I was halfway through the interview (literally) and now I see it's been removed from YouTube!

Someone must remedy that immediately!!!

Film Music Foundation, are you reading this...?

I bet it comes back edited, probably missing the Cousteau stuff.

In fact it's back. There might be two reasons for the disappearance: the foundation does not like direct linking to the videos or they wanted to fix the error in the title (the interview was done by Jon Burlingame, not Patrick Russ). Go to the interview page of the foundation, click any "View full version" link and then, in YouTube, scroll to the top of the playlist.

Oh great! Thanks, Merry!

Now can anybody find me an hour in my day to watch the rest?

I still don't see it on their site, but that aisde (no need for me to worry, I watched the whole thing originally), I wonder why they deleted the video. Last time I checked, youtube has a setting that disallows people to watch it anywhere but by visting the youtube link, so no forum viewing.

What am I missing? Following your instructions, I see plenty of interviews (which I also want to watch!), but the John Scott one is not there. Are you sure?

Try to make a right click on any "View full version" link and select something like "open in a new tab" in your browser. This should lead you to YouTube. At the right of the video there will be the playlist. At the top of it is the Scott-interview.

Not for me. I even looked at the full selection of videos on their channel and the Scott interview isn't listed.

At your side there is no playlist, titled "Full Length Interviews", at the right of the video?

This is the revised direct link to the John Scott interview on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKCvPk-qSdA&index=1&list=PL8PTNq6vub_YQFR3Ue2m2dx-0_HaObO-V

You'll notice the caption has been corrected to show that the interview is conducted by Jon Burlingame rather than Patrick Russ.

Yes, I thought that was Burlingame, AKA: secretly James Lipton.

Jim Dorhety is correct about the CD rot of some of the Scott COUSTEAU soundtracks. In fact, I'd say that nearly all of the first generation JOS soundtracks (Scott's own label) suffer from irreparable deterioration that makes the CDs an unpleasant listening experience. At some point he repressed them (and, for a short time, even offered FREE replacement discs to those who wanted them), but they are somewhat hard to find or identify from the originals. Best advice; contact Scott directly and inquire about any specific CDs and if he may know of a place to get them (it doesn't appear that he sells them from his site, but maybe I missed the link)? Go to the following link to make an inquiry - http://www.josrecords.com/contact.html

Best,

Oz

The site says hes going to change that and sell directly at some point.

Which site? josrecords.com? The site is inactive since May 2007! 9 years ago.

The first CDs from JOS were pressed by PDO in UK in the late 80ies and were infected by "bronzing" some years later. If you google for it, you'll find some threads here in the board. But PDO has stopped replacing this CDs many years ago. JOS re-released most of their stuff later - with different cover artwork and from different pressing plants.

By the way, does anybody recognize the music that opens the FMS interview with the late Larry Ashmore? I visited his website and IMDb page and was surprised to find out he apparently never did any of his own composing, always orchestrating and arranging for others, even on concert work.

I just received 5 of the Scott Cousteau scores from SAE yesterday. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I'd report in. The CDs play just fine and I had been assured by Katie from SAE that they were from a recent pressing. So, buy with confidence. All of JOS records releases at SAE are very reasonably priced at $16.95 with the only negative being the minimal booklets on the releases.

The music is sumptuous and I'm very grateful to the posters on this thread for switching me onto these scores and Scott's music in general!

Chris

It occured to me though: the batch they have is fine, but watch out for any used copies they might sell. Somebody said, I can't can't vouch for it, that it's hard to impossible to tell the difference between the old ones and the new ones.

If you check the Discogs.com listings for his two Cousteau Amazon scores you can see the different covers for the older PDO pressings. Though as far as I know those are the only two where the covers changed for the new pressings. For the old releases the discs themselves should clearly say "made in England by PDO" on them, while all the newer pressings I have say "mastered by Nimbus" on the inner ring of the CD.

My PDO copy of Amazon: The River is definitely bronzing, but I managed to rip it to my hard drive before it actually stopped playing.

The Jon Burlingame - John Scott interview was/is very nice indeed. Enthralling stuff!
