Got my *free* phone today. Haven't activated it yet.

Okay weird stuff happening. About a week ago I got a text message I received "500 credits" for my phone. I didn't buy any extra minutes but it was applied to my minutes as 500 minutes. Last night my Tracfone went dead. I get a message saying my SIMs card was deactivated.

There's no email support on their site. I can't figure out how to do live chat. There's an icon but nothing is clickable. Next I signed up on the forum and of course I have to wait for an activation link and it never showed up in my in-box (or spam folder) And I have no landline to call them!

But bottom line was my phone hacked? Did someone steal my minutes and phone number or something?

I have a registered account with the website. When I logged in I got a screen that said, "Activate Your Phone". So I tried that and it said, "Device Belongs To Another Account". mad

Well I confirmed it. Some imposter contacted Tracfone and said my phone was "Lost or Stolen". The idiots at Tracfone deactivated my SIM card, transferred my phone number to another phone and mailed it out to the thief!

Believe it or not, I have found their (India based) call center staff to occasionally be very helpful.
call their 800 number....
Press the number for "technical support". If you get a staffer who doesn't seem knowledgeable ask for another.

Namaste
