TUESDAY, APRIL 19

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN---photo released of Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt starring in the remake of the 1960 John Sturges Western that starred Yul Bryner, Steve McQueen, James Coburn and Charles Bronson.

JURASSIC WORLD 2---JA Bayona (THE ORPHANAGE, PENNY DREADFUL) will direct the sequel. Bayona originally was supposed to direct the sequel to WORLD WAR Z.

GAME OF THRONES---George RR Martin said he has an idea for a possible spinoff series, “The most natural follow-up would be an adaptation of my DUNK & EGG stories. Each of the novellas could easily be done as a two-hour stand-alone movie for television; that would probably be the ideal way to do them, rather than as an ongoing weekly series. THE HEDGE KNIGHT and its sequels are lighter [in tone] than A SONG OF FIRE AND ICE, more in the realm of action/adventure.”
Also, HBO released a new trailer for Season 6.

THE BARBARY COAST---Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson star in this tv series based on the book about San Francisco during the Gold Rush of 1849 which made it became a notorious center of crime and debauchery. Mel Gibson is the director/co-writer and has a recurring role.

AVATAR---James Cameron elaborated on his plans for the four sequel underway, It’s really all one big production. It’s more the way you would shoot a miniseries. So we’ll be shooting across all [four films] simultaneously. So Monday I might be doing a scene from Movie Four, and Tuesday I’m doing a scene from Movie One… We’re working across, essentially, eight hours of story. It’s going to be a big challenge to keep it all fixed in our minds, exactly where we are, across that story arc at any given point… It’s a saga. It’s like doing all three GODFATHER films at the same time.” The sequels will premiere in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023.

KOLMA---Daisy Ridley (STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS) is in negotiations to reunite with JJ Abrams in this US remake of the 2003 Israeli tv movie about a young woman who loses the love of her life but then marries and has a family. After her death, she is offered two choices: she can wake up to life as usual or she can wake up with her original love but have no memories of her later life's happy memories.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR---Jon Favreau (IRON MAN) confirmed he will be the executive producer of the two-part movie.

SIX---Walton Goggins (JUSTIFIED) has replaced Joe Manganiello in this History eight-part miniseries about an ex-SEAL who protects an African village from Boko Haram terrorists. Manganiello left due to health problems.

TRAVELERS---new Netflix sci fi series set in the dystopian future with the surviving people sending their consciousnesses back in time into people in the 21st century to prevent the future apocalypse. Eric McCormack (WILL & GRACE) stars. Brad Wright (STARGATE SG-1) is the creator.

CASTLE---ABC announced that Stana Katic and Tamala Jones won't return to the series due to "budgetary reasons". The series hasn't been renewed yet for Season 9.

THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA---Jason Sudeikis, Maisie Williams and Jessica Biel star in this movie about a grieving architect, whose pregnant wife died in a car accident, and a homeless girl who build a raft made out of junk and embark on a journey across the Atlantic Ocean.

WONDERSTRUCK---Michelle Williams is in negotiations to co-star with Julianne Moore in this movie based on the novel.

GYPSY---Naomi Watts stars in this Netflix series about a therapist who starts dangerous relationships with people from her patients' lives.

The Barbary Coast sounds interesting, just based on Russell and Gibson being involved. Hopefully it's good.

I also like westerns, though i'm not a fan of Fuqua as a director. I just don't seem to warm to his films. Hopefully it's not dreary. A lot of modern westerns (maybe it's a budget thing, as many of them are straight to DVD) just look and feel a bit dreary.

Those are the cleanest looking yesteryear cowboys I have ever seen.

I thought Fuqua butchered THE EQUALIZER concept.

MAGNIFICENT SEVEN in JURASSIC WORLD, now there's a motion picture for ya, like a modern GWANGI.

You read my mind! I think it could actually work unlike Cowboys vs Aliens. Anything other than what their doing now. I'm so tired of every film having a terrorist/ weaponize something plot line.

I hope one of them is a master of disguise.

None of those actors can hold a candle to the original Seven. None of them. There is no new Bronson, McQueen, Brynner, Coburn, etc.!

Don't you mean Toshirô Mifune, Takashi Shimura, Keiko Tsushima, Yukiko Shimazaki, Kamatari Fujiwara, etc.?

I just watched the Magnificent Seven trailer or teaser trailer. I'm not warming to it. Pratt does that "cool" action film thing of jumping and spinning in the air while firing his pistols. Anyway, it's just a trailer but so far it's not getting me in a picture house. That one of the Seven appears to be a native american of some kind is interesting. Wonder how they'll use him.

Seven Samurai is still my favourite 7 film.

Seven Samurai is still my favourite 7 film.

Well, I doubt anyone is going to top that anytime soon. wink

I'll approach this is a Fuqua film, not a MAG 7 film. I think that's the best way to go about it.

Probably the right thing to do to get the most out of it.
